I can't believe I didn't see this post before now.

Oh WOW! I think there may be something here Snowmom. Here's what I have

Charles Minor Jones b. abt 1823 in New York

married to Lydia Melissa Perry

She was born in IL, then they moved to Iowa.

children:

Louisa Fedora Jones b.October 08, 1852 in IL

George Washington Jones b. February 22, 1854

Anna Belle Jones b. April 10, 1856 in ,Whiteside, IL

James Crockett Jones b.August 22, 1856 in IL

married Izora Christina Overacher. The Overacher family lived in Rome, IA

Joel C. Jones b. March 20, 1860 in IA

Jenny Lind Jones b. August 28, 1867 in , Fremont, IA

Rose Estelle Jones b. Sydney, Fremont, IA

Frank Benton Jones b. 1882 in ID

Note the Benton! Possible connection there? Perhaps a grandfather or uncle in common? Something to look into

The whole Overacher clan moved to ID, and Izora's younger sister Sarah married Joel Jones. Frank Benton Jones's descendents are the ones I got the photos from that I posted on Cat's page. The man with the bicycle is Frank as a young man.

I found my Overacher and Jones relatives Friday in the 1856 Iowa Census! The Jones family were right where I thought they should be in Sidney, Freemont, IA. But it turns out the Overachers were in ROME TOWNSHIP, Jones CO. not Rome, Henry, IA like I thought. I didn't have the county name before. Amazing how you just stumble accross these things sometimes

Benton must have been a surname common to the area. I found a Benton township in Freemont county as well
