  1. So tonight I'm having dinner with my best friend... she's telling me a story about when she was in Jr. High and some boy wanted to teach her how to kiss. So she says:

"So we were at Jill's house and she had this neat room. You had to go into a closet, open a hatch and crawl through into this room. Inside she had Christmas lights and we'd sit in there and play cards, and..."

I'm thinking Never mind the boy and the kissing!!! Tell me more about this room!! How was it concealed in the construction of the house? How big was it? How much 'preps' could I fit in it? Was it an attic and hot? Or insulated? Where is this house? Is it where we grew up? I could buy that house!

    :24:

  2. I know this is supposed to be humor, but some of these are really good ideas (and new to me):

    - You've sewn a secret mini-BOBs into the bottom of your children's school backpacks.

    - You have two water heaters installed in your basement, but one is a dummy that's been converted to hideaway safe.

    And this one:

*- You fill up when your gas tank is 3/4 full.

I've been filling up a 1/2 tank for a couple of years now, but yesterday, I felt edgy cuz my guage was at 5/8. :24:

    What is a "Volcano" ?

  3. Can I ask another question?

Well, I can ask, but I'm politely asking to answer anoher one.

Describe for me the ideal day for an ASD pup that has just joined our family. When is he inside, outside, actively training, actively playing w/human, or in his crate? Also if we crate a pup, do we continue crating into adulthood?

Here is our schedule that he would fit into.

530 - Dad gets up and leaves

700 - Mom and kids get up

900 - Mom and kids outside to take care of poultry, hang out laundry, and garden for an hour in season (April - October)

    12 - lunch

3 pm - Dad comes hom

    5 pm - dinner

7 pm - kids to bed

8 or 9 pm - Dad to bed

10 or 11 pm - Mom to bed

    TIA!

  4. I have a question, but I think I already know the answer.

Suppose I have an LGD here at home, whose purpose is partly to keep the poultry safe and mostly to alert on two-legged predators. Then suppose, we buy our property out in the country. When we go visit, can we take the dog with us? (The poultry will be okay) Would that confuse her?

What about if we bug out to the country? We'd take her then, but would she adapt fairly quickly?

    TIA.

  5. We have 12.5 gallons of store-bought water (five 2.5gal jugs).

A rain barrel attached to the shed.

A 'rain barrel' filled with hose water - refreshed every 3-6 months.

There is a natural spring about 2.5 miles away. I fill up household drinking water there about once a week (because I believe it to be healthier than city tap water). If TSHTF right after I filled up, we'd have another nine gallons of fresh water on hand.

Once those resources were used up & assuming we couldn't get to the spring, we could continue to collect rain water and use our propane stove to purify.

We've already determined that we would not use ANY water for flushing. Instead we would use a bucket and hand-carry it to the septic. That saves a lot. As does a no-rinse skin cleanser like Cetaphil for bathing, and purell for hand-washing.
