An excuse to bump this thread up, and give everyone a chuckle at the same time...

Even the dancers in the ballet are learning to protect themselves.

Good add, Judy.
There is a difference between bacteria (germs) and viruses.

An old coffee cup was 6 ounces, so 1/2 of that would be 3 ounces.

You may want to look closely at the raspberry plants. Some ant species 'farm' aphids. They put them on plants and milk them. Aphids can be sprayed with a soap/garlic/water spray.

I located this http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Cookery_(Bookshelf) , it's the cookbook collection from Project Gutenberg.
The one that jumped out at me was this one,
Twenty-Five Cent Dinners for Families of Six, published 1879. Of course, prices are a tad bit higher these days...

Have to find something easy enough for me to make.

It's lost the picture somewhere along the way...

I always add eggshells to my stock as it simmers, too, along with anything else I have, including the stale ends of bread that no one wants and the hard, dry corners off the cheese block. There is no sense in throwing away something that might be past it's prime when you can leech out the nutrients for stock....
Some are shocked by the fact that I use bones that have been on a diner's plate at my table. Grilled bones from chops, etc make EXCELLENT stock. I figure, I'm boiling it, any germs aren't going to last through a couple hours of intense heat....
I'M SHOCKED, I'M SHOCKED!!!!

I do that too, have for decades.

Found the thread on Vitamin C, including pine needle tea. I bumped it.

You said you wanted some other unusual ideas...
I'm not sure how unusual it is; but in Summer I make evergreen needle tea, chill, and use as lemon in the iced tea and Koolaid pitchers. Lots of vitamin C in that.

My first thought was I'd never heard of canning bananas, but then realized they sell canned tropical fruit salad with bananas in it.
Violet, is this one of those things the commercial canners can do, that we can't?

I love macrame!
Back in the 1970s for some reason I used to burn myself every time I turned around. When I started macrame classes, Hippiedad was pleased that I had found something where I couldn't burn myself...
To finish off the nylon pieces, one melts them and shapes them while they are still warm...

Have you ever seen a stargazy pie? That's the sort of pie I would have had to make.
I much prefer them without the bones, head and skin...

You know, Cookie - You really need to expand on this one.
That you have 20 uses for newspaper besides just reading them.
20? Explain, please.

I learned how to fillet my own fish. Saved half of the cost of having them do it.
Good skill to have too, if I want to raise them myself.

If you're into basketry instead of crochet, you may prefer this one.

Susie, Did you check your computer cookies? Some sites won't let you in, if their cookie is blocked.

Chocolate freezes very well, Homemaker. I cram it down in the crevices between other things.
When you thaw it, sometimes it 'blooms' (those white spots) a little, but is still very good. Freezing it is the only way I can keep it around. We've used several-year-old frozen chocolate.(Sometimes it falls down and gets lost.)
