  1. I think those people were just selfish and didn't care about anyone else. Typical. They only cared about getting to their destination. The wife was probably using the air plane barf bag. Where is it? If there were splatters, then the blood wasn't just oozing out of the man.

What sort of hemorrhagic fevers are in Thailand? Where else had he been. Where is his wife? Who was that 'doctor'?  Too many questions.

Just thinking about the steps each passenger went through; deplaned into the terminal, boarded another plane, entered another terminal upon arrival, perhaps got a connecting flight to their destination involving another terminal, then get a ride home. Perhaps stopping someplace to eat. All in the same clothing and no shower. Times however many people who were on that plane. Then the same plane reloaded with passengers to make another trip. All the while the same air circulating around the plane. How many other other planes did each one of those people board until they finally made it home?

I hope nothing comes of this but it is the perfect storm.

Me? I'd call for an ambulance explaining the situation and get into the hospital  ASAP.

  2. My Muffin would only come back if treats were involved. Brat. Beagle = nose activated.

Sorry to hear about your friends grandson. That is happening far too often. 19 is still just a child. IMO. :yar:

I've been hearing a lot about people not being able to find the pellets. Make sure you have enough to get you through winter. Something about them being a seasonal item and stores not reordering then in late winter. .

And No MORE GOATS. Atleast not where you are right now. Too hard to take care of in the winter. And next winter you will be a year older. :D

  3. Heck Euphrasyne, I love raw bell peppers too. Especially the red and yellow ones. The child could be mine.  :D

That was a jerk move Littlesister. Some people have no manners. I would have stopped and given him "that look" I have. It's horrifying. Just stop dead quiet and stare until you feel a blink coming on. People don't know what to do with it. And don't talk to them or move. Just stare right in eyes. They will either see the error of their ways or think you are crazy. Either way is fine.

Sorry you are stuck inside Momo. I've been stuck in depression the past couple of weeks. I'm sure it's moving from the hotel back to the house. Changes like that seem to effect me more these days even if they are positive. Plus looking at all the stuff I still have to do. Daunting. But it will pass. I know because it always does. Hope your ride gets fixed soon! :hug3:

  4. MT3B, Congrats on your new job!

I finally got my fish meds. They were delivered to Advance Auto Parts (guess they are a drop off station). Sort of glad because they didn't get left on my porch and APA is right down the street. I didn't have to show any ID though. I guess anyone could have said they were me and got the package. Anyway, I only want to make one more small order and then I'm done...famous last words. Assuming they can get the meds in. I discovered one of my fish can tolerate something other than Cipro so I want to get her the alternative med, just in case. Her vet isn't always easy to work with.

Last Thanksgiving when I was in Indy I went to KFC for their cole slaw. They were out of Pepsi. Today I went to KFC here in Ohio for a pot pie and they didn't have any Pepsi. BTW, as soon as my butt hits the car seat I automatically become absolutely parched. It's like Pavlov's dog. You've seen dogs hanging their head out of a car window with their tongue hanging out? Soon as I pull out of the driveway that's me. Anyway, they had a sign in the window that said they prefer cash but if you pay with a credit card and the amount is over $25.00 then you must present the card and a driver's license. I've never paid for fast food with a credit card so that seemed odd to me. Don't know if that also applied to using an app or not. I'm thinking they are concerned with hackers too.

I've heard that "they" are trying to get people to use up their cash to get the money back into the banks and out of people's hands. Don't know. I also heard one guy tried to cash his paycheck for cash at a Chase bank and the teller told him they didn't have the cash on hand. It was either in New York or California. Can't remember which.

If they can't secure our credit cards from hackers then I wonder how they plan to secure our digital bank accounts?

Have lots of errands to catch up with tomorrow.

  5. I get it. I bought a Presto because I needed a second canner and now I only use the Presto.

I've heard the forjars one is good too. They came out after I bought the Presto. IMO, I'd get one that has a dial gauge and the weighted thingy that has the pressure options. Sorry I can't post pictures on this phone. But not the one that just sits on top of the canner. Like a rocker. Get one where you can chose between 5,10,15 pounds of pressure. That way it will maintain the pressure automatically. Of course you still have to watch it! But once it sets itself with the dial gauge it maintains pretty well without constant watching. They come where you add weights or one that is solid round that you choose the pound you want and set it on the canner. Most new canner just come with that rocker. My weight was $20.00 at Lehmans but well worth it.

I'm in the same position with the house. I keep trying to remind myself that you have to make a mess to clean a mess. I've got the first part of that down very well.  :D

  6. What parts do you need? My Miro (sp) canner uses my same Presto gaskets. I've had that canner since the 70's-80's and it's still good. I did upgrade to a Presto with a gauge and a weight. It's a game changer. I can keep an eye on the gauge while the weight maintains the pressure. I did have to buy a different weight for it though.

I thought very seriously about an All American canner but they are just too heavy and I'm too short to be reaching behind a hot canner to mess with the toggles. Plus the price!

  7. I needed a new DVD player last year. I found one on Amazon that plays all DVD's from everywhere except for Blu-ray. I don't have any Blueray's anyway.

The thing is, I like foreign movies and especially box sets. Mostly British and some Australian. But most of them are from Region 2. Our DVD's in America are from Region 1 and most players sold in America only play Region 1 DVD's. I bought a player that will play all regions and it was very inexpensive for what it does. I'm still on this blasted phone so I can't look it up right now. I suppose you could look up 'multi region DVD player'. I hate to say what I paid for it because I'm not sure but I know it was under $100.00

But the real reason I bought it was because Region 2 DVD's cost a lot less than Region 1. A lot less! I THINK most of mine came from England but with Amazon Prime I didn't have to pay for shipping. I just had to wait around a week or so for them.

I don't remember if it plays CD's. I hope so. :scratchhead:

  8. Midnightmom, glad you checked in. I knew the rains were in the LA area so I was pretty sure you were safe.  :hug3:

Mt. Rider, I don't know how you do it up there. I could stand the cold but not the shoveling. Take care!  :hug3:

I'm not feeling great. I went over ti Meijers but started feeling sick so I didn't get to look around much. It's either the new BP med or it was because I didn't eat. I'm thinking its the med. Sigh.

Anyway I did notice that the aisles were very spaced out and there was a lot of empty spaces on the floor. It's a fairly new store so it never was crowded like Walmart  but it looked downright empty. I didn't have a chance to check out the shelves. I'm hearing about a lot of shortages. And eggs are supposed to be sky high. Wish I would gave thought to check them out.

I picked up a tomato and it was as hard as a rock. Seriously hard!  It was red but felt like a green tomato on the vine.

I came home and had missed a Fed X delivery. A week ago I ordered some more meds for the fish. They are starting to look droopy again. But this time it seems like I had to sign for the package. That was a first!  So now I have to go pick the package up and show ID. I have one more order to place with them but they are out of the med the fishys need. Hope they make it.  :D

  9. I think that is a great idea!  I haven't thought much about it but if you made aprons for the girls in your family, I'm sure they would cherish them as a keepsake years from now. I know you'd want them to use them now but I would have loved to have something like that now from my grandma, mother or MIL.

Only thing I could make, other than canned food, would be some small quilts. I think grandson would like that. Something like 'throw' size for watching TV on the couch. Hard to sew for boys.

One year I crochet or knitted (can't remember which now) a neck scarf for my D-ex. He did office work and it sort of matched his overcoat. He loved it and wore it until it fell apart.

One year my little 4 year old nephew was staying in a hospital. Unfortunately he died of kidney disease. :yar: BUT, I croched him a pair of green mittens and decorated them like a boy and a girl. I put braided hair and cross stitched eyes on the girl and a hat and stitched eyes on the boy. They ended up looking like puppets. He and his mom used to talk to each other with them.

  10. LOL I'm very redundant. I have backups of all my CD's. Each one in the Jeep, the house, a back up CD, in the computer and on a thumb drive. I've lost too many songs in the past and it is not going to happen again.  Either they got deleted or scratched up. Or I crashed the computer.

It's getting harder to find hard copies of music and movies these days. These young whippersnappers want digital now. I don't trust it. I want to own it in my grubby little paws. And I want to make CD's of only the songs I like. One CD holds about 80 minutes. Reminds me I need to buy some more blanks while I can still get them.

  11. I really hated to read where he died. He fought a hard battle with stomach cancer. He was 62.

I loved his music so much. He did a lot of fun upbeat country music songs.

IMO he sounded a lot like Merle Haggard. They did a duet and I couldn't which was which at times.

He did a lot of charity work and was a patriot. He will be miss by many.  :yar:

  12. I'm doing fine. Just very tired. Either I'm finally crashing or it's the new BP med. Either way, I'm just rolling with the flow. I do have to get the lead out soon and get to packing up more junk.

I'm finding more stuff that they need to fix. That's agrevating. I just keep seeing dollar signs flowing out the door as far as resale goes.

One thing I know is, an empty house is a cold house. It's been in the mid 30's here and I had to turn up the heat to 70 and it's still cold in here. I guess furniture and bedding etc. Really helps hold in the heat. Probably why I'm so sleepy all the time. I just want to snuggle down in this big old twin size bed.  LOL. Good thing I'm not a sprawler.

I miss not having internet. I haven't been out to buy a new computer yet. I haven't been out anywhere lately. Glad I have Old Time Radio on the phone. It plays all day. I'm in love with Dick Powell playing Richard Diamond.  :sEm_blush:

Fortunately I had most of the kitchen and bathroom set up before I came back, so I have everything I need. That may not be the best though because I'm not getting out and being active. Darned if you do...

Thinking about you all and hope to get back in the swing of things soon. It's difficult typing on this little phone. Excuse the mistakes. Autocorrect is being busy. I noticed my computer autocorrect has changed all of my borders to boarders. Kinda the same thing though when ya think about it. :whistling:

  13. I found the 'internet' button on my own phone. Who knew!  But it is hard for me to type on a little screen. It makes me do that puzzle thing to prove I'm not a robot and I have to give my email address every time I click on.

I'll try to check in every day though. Every thing is fine. I just can't figure out my internet code. I'll wait to contact ATT when I get a new computer so I only have to deal with them once.  :grouphug:

  14. This is Jeepers. Not sure if this works or not. I'm using a friend's phone. I checked out of the hotel and am at the house now. But I can't access my internet here. Just a heads up that I'll be off line for awhile.

I'm going to get a new computer next week so I'll probably just wait to fight ATT all at one time.  Sigh.

  15. Those are typical basement steps in my area. They really aren't any steeper than my regular stairs.  I think there are 12 of them. There are 13 going up to the second floor. Codes are strictly enforced around here. There has to be at least partial walls and one hand rail on all inner stairways. You rarely see open staircase. One difference is my stairs going up to the second floor are carpeted. Those walls are very important because I touch them for balance when I go down there. Same thing when I go up or down the other steps going up to the second floor. I touch those walls or the hold onto the handrail when I use the steps. I'll be so glad when I no longer have steps to navigate inside the house. My balance is too unpredictable these days. I need to touch something when I'm on steps.

For some reason, most people that I know, who have a basement, have had water damage at one time or another. Either from flooding, malfunctioning sump pump, or water heater or water softener leaking. I had all of them at once. Fortunately, I think, I didn't have a working washer down there. See the white line on the wall down there? That was the water mark from when I had water standing down there. One time I had roots in my drainage pipes outside beside the house and that caused my basement to get water in it. I had to have Roter Rooter dig up one side of my house and lay new pipes because of little pine tree roots. I like the thought of a basement but for me, it isn't practical anymore. I'd rather have MT3B.s storm shelter.

It's hard to tell about buying/selling a house. I think I got lucky when I bought the Indy house. My interest rate is a little over 4.5%. I'm  thinking closer to 4.65%.  I don't remember exactly now. I hope it will be a sellers market when I sell the Ohio house. It's something that is hard to plan for if you are selling and buying at the same time. You will either get hit with interest rates buying a new house or take a loss selling your old one if no one can afford the rates. It's hard to be a buyer and a seller at the same time. It's always something.

  16. Necie, you are a good daughter!  :hug3:

Dang Miki, you are colder down there than we are up here.  :frozen:

Mt. Rider, D-ex used to say wood warmed him three times. Once when he cut/split it, once when he stacked it and once when he burned it. He used to do all of that back in the day. He's 76 now so he isn't as spry as he usta be. Although he still jogs for miles every day and still works. Show off.  :grinning-smiley-044:

I'm starting to think the light at the end of my tunnel isn't a train this time.  :D

Littlesister, moving out of state isn't that hard for me because I didn't have a lot of furniture to move. No living room or dinning room furniture. Biggest thing I had was a bookcase and a pie safe that son took in his trailer. He brought his big trailer over twice and really loaded it down. I call it his horse trailer because it is so big. But it's just a regular enclosed trailer like a lawn company would use. You could probably get 4 riding mowers in there though. Looking around today, I think he is going to have to bring it over just one more time. Either that or he can bring his full size truck and I'll pull a U-Haul with my Jeep. His truck has one of those removable hard covers over the bed so we also packed a lot in it too. Even though I paid for their hotel stay and all the gas and food, he saved me a fortune on moving. I can't imagine what a moving company would have charged me. I'm scaling down too but I can't believe how many clothes I have.  Sheesh. What was I thinking. I have nightgowns out the wazoo. I went through some of it today and I have 3 trash bags already to take to the Salvation Army next week. I saved all of my canning jar boxes and just wrapped them in that plastic wrap stuff I got from U-haul. I moved most of mine in the car though. Moving sucks big time. Especially when you are older.   If it weren't for my son, I might have ordered a pod and filled it up then had them move it. I still would have had to load and unload it myself.

  17. I saw this but waited until I could snap a picture at the house before I responded.

A ramp down to my basement would be impossible because the bottom step is only about 3-4 feet away from the wall. I would never want a ramp going down 12 steps. It would be too steep. I think a ramp would be more dangerous than steps. Momentum could easily take over. Then how would you get back up out of the basement? A ramp works for a couple of steps going from a house but not a whole flight of steps.

Son's basement steps go down about 6 steps and then turn and go down another 7 or so steps. That wouldn't work either because there isn't really enough room to make that first turn. Then the remaining steps would be too steep too. Unlike outside ramps for steps, most inside steps are more closed in by walls.

    Typical basement steps. Too steep.

  18. Glad your dishwasher is still alive and kicking!

We have had nothing but rain rain and more rain this week. Really taking a toll on my back. Not only damp but humid too. My granny used to call it 'close.' Snow is mostly melted so I can go ahead and make the Amazon order. I just need a couple of things I can't find locally but the walkway was snowed under and I didn't want to chance them not delivering. I wouldn't blame them if they didn't want to trudge through the snow. I wouldn't want to either.

I saw the B.P. nurse today. She upped one of my pills again. Nothing seem to work. Even when I was on the med that made me pass out, it was still too high. I'm special.  :grinning-smiley-044:

I stopped by the house again. I've been going over there every day. I got most of the floors mopped and the rugs put down. I'm moving back in in a couple of days. It will be easier for me to work over there instead of going back and forth. Will be uncomfortable with no furniture. I bought a little cheapy boom box for noise. I don't work well when it's quiet. I'm going to spend the weekend packing up the hotel and getting it loaded in the Jeep. There really isn't all that much. It's just all spread out. And I STILL have to iron those #$%^ curtains. I don't even know if they are useable or not.   I might have to order some. Whatever I do, I'm going cheap. Probably just some cotton Priscilla curtains.  I'm tired of moving all the time and setting up and tearing down. I hope to have it all behind me this summer. Then I can start working on that house.

  19. Robitussin cough syrup sold nationwide recalled due to contamination

    Updated

Haleon is recalling Robitussin cough syrup sold nationwide due to microbial contamination that could lead to deadly infections for at-risk people, the U.S.-based unit of the U.K.-based global consumer health company said on Wednesday.

Use of the recalled products could potentially result in severe or life-threatening fungal infections in those with impaired immune systems, Haleon stated in a notice posted by the Food and Drug Administration. Most users are unlikely to experience a serious health problem, but an infection that requiring medical intervention can't be ruled out, the company said.

Robitussin is widely used to relieve symptoms that come with cold, flu, hay fever or other respiratory allergies. The recall includes the following products, followed by their lot numbers and expiration dates:

    Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 4oz — T10810 — October 31, 2025Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 8oz — T08730, T08731, T08732, T08733 — May 31, 2025Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 8oz — T10808 — September 30, 2025Robitussin Honey CF Max NT Adult 8oz — T08740, T08742 — June 30, 2026

Consumers who purchased the recalled products shouldn't use them, Haleon said. Customers with questions can call the company at (800) 245-1040 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time, or email mystory.us@haleon.com.

  20. I am going to call them next week. That sink leaks underneath too. I also can't get one of the plugs to work in another bathroom sink. And the place where the showerhead comes out of the wall, there is a metal disk that goes against the wall to hide the hole where the pipe comes out. It is just sitting there loose. In my opinion it should be fastened down with some caulk or something. I'm going through the house making a list of concerns.

I know it wasn't their job to clean my house but they left a lot of mess behind. There are globs of spackle stuff everywhere. Even inside drawers?  On more than one wall, a brand new wall, they put this light switch cover back on like this. Like they couldn't have wiped it down before they put it back on? You can see the toggle is brand new. They changed the switch and put the cover back on like this.

    image.jpeg

All of the registers in the whole house look like this. Insurance wouldn't pay for new ones. Even though they were moldy. Some of that is rust and some of it is just plain dirt.

    image.jpeg

Lots of work to do even before I can start on the garage. I've been going over every day to sort through some more of my stuff and to get the kitchen and bathrooms set up. Tomorrow I'll Swiffer the floors so I can the bath mats etc. put down. Then I'll start on the closets.
