  1. Here is one that I just found. It leaves your hands feeling soooo good! And it tastes yummy too!

    Lemonade for Hands.....

Pour about a tablespoon of sugar into the palm of your hand

Take a wedge of lemon and squeeze the juice over the sugar

Gently rub your hands together, making sure to rub the backs of your hands and your fingers, too

Then let it set for 5 minutes or so, then rinse

We go through a LOT of ranch dressing mix so that saves us a tremendous amount of money. We use bisquick for biscuits and pancakes, also saving tons of money, considering how much of that we go through.

    Mo7,

If you have the time, would you post your recipes? I would love to have a Ranch dressing recipe.

    Thanks!

  3. Hi everyone,

I started working at the Holiday Inn In Ft. Pierre, SD about 1 and 1/2 months ago and am continuing the carbohydrate addicts diet(since Oct of 02). I've lost 9 pounds since I started in housekeeping and a total of 29 pounds since Oct. Housekeeping in a hotel is the best exercise I've ever gotten and getting paid is a plus! Is it fun? No!!! It's very tiring but the results are great. I think wherever we stop next, I'll try to get a job riding horses or something I'd at least like. Well that's my 2 cents worth. We leave here in about a week and a half for Wyoming. I'll post an update in Sunporch. Everyone have a great day!

  4. I know I'm a little slow on the uptake since I only get to the library once or twice a week. Sorry! I tag Debbielee. She has a great sense of humour to me. A little on the wry side, which I like a lot. It's not fair to tag just one because everybody here is so nice! See you all soon.

  5. Hi Debbielee,

It's a lot of fun but it has its challenges. It's not easy to get a new job every few months. At least i don't have to work but sitting in a 25 ft rv can get boring fast. If I don't find something here in Pierre, I'll just go to the community center and find something to do volunteering or something. The trans. in the van had to be rebuilt again but we're getting some money back from the guy in TX who did a bad job. This time it's good!! Any way the travel is what I thought it would be (great) but I didn't know what all the trade-off would be. Very little money for things or entertainment. I'm not whining. I'm just learning to be more creative with what I have!

  6. Hi Snowmom,

I guess what I thought was the Great Plains was really Sandhills, huh? It was very beautiful. I know people think that of FL but allI see is billboards and I'm thankful there are few of them here! We are supposed to go to Bowbells,ND but I'm not sure when. We just got to Pierre,SD yesterday and found a park to stay at for $6 a day.

    Talk to you soon----Miki

  7. Hi everyone,

First, Reci, I'm so sorry about your loss and your illness. We've all had losses and it never gets easier to handle. I'll pray for you and yours as a loss usually affects everyone around you.

We stopped here to see about work and DH is on another computer right now. I won't have a problem but I can't look until he finds something. We may go to Oglala or continue on to SD is nothing here. We've seen a large number of homeless people for this size town.

On the way here we saw a pair of pheasants, a gopher and a live skunk( usually just see the dead ones). I didn't know there were hills in Kansas or Nebraska but there are and it was a beautiful drive!

My love to all. More later

  8. Hi everyone,

I haven't been around much because the transmission went out on the van and it took time to get it out and rebuilt but God took care of all the details as He always does! We leave for SD tomorrow with a new trans., new u-joints(whatever they are) and a new rear main seal. I feel like we've been here about a month too long as it's been real hot.

Way too many insects here, too. Killed a small tarantula on the van the other day, large centipede in the shower, and have seen several scorpions. The cute thing (and thats using the term cute loosely) was a small herd-6 to 10- of baby granddaddy longleg spiders heading down my walking path.

I'll miss my line dancing class. Now that I'm getting the steps I'll have plenty of time to forget them.

I wonder where we'll stop. We were headed for New Mexico when we stopped in Texas. There are places in Nebraska and North Dakota that look good so we'll see where God stops us. It's fun learning to really listen to Him!

I look forward to hearing from everyone or anyone. I'll stop at libraries along the way when possible.

I actually got to do some photos for the local animal shelter where i volunteer. It was during a fundraiser and it was fun and they turned out well. I have 4 rolls of film and 1 roll of slides to develop. I hope to work on a ranch cooking for people or taking care of animals but I'll take what I can! If anyone has a suggestion I'm sure I'll be open. I'll let you know when I get somewhere in case anyone lives nearby.

    Thanks for listening Miki

  10. Hi there,

I just read your post and I'm sure it's difficult at this point. Having been gone for a few months and just returning, the last post I read about your step daughter was in October and it sounds like you've made a lot of headway since then! I'm sure it's hard to see on a daily basis so I thought I'd give a different perspective. Miki

  11. I have very little time today(came with dh). All is well. I found a free exercise class and a line dancing class for $1. Both are twice a week. This will help keep me busy. I hope everyone is doing well< I don't even have time to see.

  12. Any one still doing this diet? I lost 21 lbs. on the carbohydrate addicts diet, then started being a little loose with it and stopped losing and have just maintained for the last 2 months while we've been traveling. I just started the Atkins to get me going again and it's going really well. I've lost 7 lbs. from Thurs. am til Mon. am. I know it won't continue at this rate but I'll take it for now! 3 or 4 lbs is probably water huh? I am exercising and walking and just need recipes and motivation.

    Thanks

    Mik

  13. Hi Debbielee!

Stevie Rae watches herself and carries her leash in her mouth sometimes when we walk. (She is her own girl and doesn't need us except to open the door, feed her and entertainment purposes. Just ask her-ha ha
