    Boo!

I don't know where the hours in the day go - but I am not one of these organized people by nature so have had to cut back on computer time. I think one major thing that is throwing me off is I am used to getting up at 4 and staying up and lately when DH leaves for work I crash back out till 7 or 8 and am way behind. I feels so good to sleep in lately though!!!! I have been running to practice for Little League, which seems to take over my life this time of year. It is funny I have boys 19, 15, and 8 -so I feel like I have been out there FOREVER. I am also heading up a new women's ministry department at my church. We have been meeting monthly which sees to take a lot of organization and in May are going to host a 2 day conference -so been working hard to get everything ready for that. Then there is everyday life of homeschooling a 10th grader (who just cant seem to grasp Algebra past a certain point!) and a 3ed grader who’s learning is just taking off. Then there is my household which seems to be completely disorganized this time of year with piles of papers and magazines and who knows what (clutter) everywhere. Excuses, excuses, excuses....

  7. This is a letter that was passed on from a friend. This young girl (22) is a relitive of hers. Awesome faith! A Rose in the Wilderness It has been an eventful few weeks since I have last updated. Many of you received an email asking prayer for Kanesa and I since we felt like we were about to really enter into the battle against Satan and his demons. Well, I sent that email on a Sunday afternoon and on Sunday night, the battle really began. On Monday morning, our house helper found a curse that someone had bought from the alfaga, a Muslim leader, and had buried beneath a rock in our yard near our house. That night Kanesa had maggots in her room and in her bed that were unexplainable. At night, we listen to the beating drum and chants of those who are calling the evil spirits to come. For many of you, this is outrageous and unbelievable. But the Truth is that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against powers of darkness and principalities. It has been difficult to know how to be with the people since all of this took place. How do you minister to those who hate you? How do you bless those who persecute you? But isn’t that what Scripture commands? And now I am having the opportunity to obey this command. I am having the opportunity to see God’s mighty power over all evil spirits. I am seeing God “contend with those who contend with me.” I am seeing the mighty power of our Savior, as He rushes to my aid. So, in all of this, I am being allowed to see the greatness of the One whom I am serving!! And for that, I praise Him. Many of you may be asking if I am safe here. Well, define “safe.” If your definition of safe is being in the center of God’s will, knowing that He will keep me in whatever way He chooses, and that my soul will endure to the end, then YES!!!! I am safe. If “safe” to you means comfortable, healthy, free from harms way, then NO!!! I am not, nor do I want to be. Because I am learning that I would rather live a life that is uncomfortable, unsafe, and the exact opposite of all I had hoped it would be, if that means that I am in His perfect way, making His Name great among the nations. Do I love the people here that much to give up all those things? No. But I love my God and His glory that much. I am learning to love my God that much. Friends, I plead with you to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Him. To take up the cross always means death in some form. Death to sin, death to self, maybe even death to physical life. But He who clings to his life shall lose it, and he who loses his life for the sake of the Gospel will keep it. What will it look like for you to lose your life for the sake of the Gospel? Will it mean you leave behind family, friends, and comfort for the mission field? Will it mean that you will invest your life in the young children in your Sunday school class? Will it mean that you will pour out your life for your neighbors that don’t yet know the greatness of Christ? Will it mean that you will now surrender your all to Christ and die to your own pleasures and desires? I pray that all those who read this, along with myself, will be brought to their knees in absolute surrender and abandon to Christ. I will keep you all posted on life in Niger. Please do the same for me wherever you are. Your prayers are powerful and effective. Because you have prayed, I have been given strength, peace, and hope in great measure. I love you all so very much. Looking forward IN HOPE, Brandy www.zermateam.org www.westafricahut.blogspot.com Father, would You bring me to the point of surrender in my life where I deny myself and take up my cross to follow You. May I follow wherever You lead, whatever the cost.
  8. Great Idea! I will do it- even though Dh got a great card for me this year- it made me cry! But given the choice I would rather have him pray for me for 30 mins! happy valentines day!
  9. Just got this in a email- thought you all might enjoy! Aprons I don't think our kids know what an apron is. The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven. It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears. From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids. And when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms. Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls. In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees. When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner. It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that "old-time apron" that served so many purposes. REMEMBER: Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw Do you remember any of these? I do!!
  10. The herb Paw Paw is good to kill them also.
  11. Also if you want to check out what people think about the book- I usually check for reviews on Amazon.
  12. I never really knew any of my grandparents - both of my grandfather passed away before i was born and my mother's mother passed away whe nI was a baby. I have some memories of goingto Georgia to see my dad's mom but she passed when I was 7 or 8 and wit hher living out of state ... Part of the reason they passed away so early in my life was my parents were 47 (mom) and 57 (dad) when I was born. They were born in 1910 and 1919. Now I really wish they has shared more. They never really talked about their childhoods much. I don't know why. But many times as an adult I have wished they were still alive so I could sit and listen to the stories.
  13. Quote: But what if I hadn't recorded her grades? They would have given me a stink about it! Then, if you decided to put her in PS you would make up some grades - what you, her mother, who would KNOW what she really deserved, decided to give her and hand them a sheet with Math B, English A, Science C, or whatever....
