i volunteered for our local brigade days. there is a lot of events going on, or well,there was a lot of events going on. there used to be a midway, but they cant get a midway anymore, because of some past mix up, but they want more people to attend. now everyone on the commitee is in thier 60's,. and they like it the way it is, and dont want it to change. but the fact of the matter is, there needs ot be changes if they want to keep the brigade days.(its been running something like 48 years in a row now, it would be a shame to quit now) so, march 21st is out big meeting on ideas, and what events will we plan, and we need ideas. i know some of you go to country fairs and evter stuff and win ribbons or wahtever, i am sure that your town has its own festivals.

 

what i want your help with is ideas. i want a list of ideas for fun things for the brigade days festival that i can suggest/submit at the next meeting.

 

these are a few things that happen every year.

 

demolition derby

parade

kids fun zone (big bouncy air thingys that kids jump/slide on and more)

sellers booths (i'll have one)

 

 

 

these are things that i thought ot to suggest.

 

belly dancing

native arts (dancing, singing, drums and such)

karate weapons demonstrations

chili cook-off

dunk tank

How much time before the brigade days start? (I couldn't get the page to open).

 

 

1.Bad Races

2.eating contest: What is Hope famous for? Crawfish eating in Louisiana, hot pepper eating in texas, hotdog eating in Coney Island.

3.Giant creations such as when everyone wears a colored shirt and makes a flag(the Canadian Flag?) or spells something out. Our school spelled out MIAMI with people then took a photo and sold the photo!

4. Famous lookalike or most like someone famous. Enter people then have the audience vote. Someone may look like Brittany Spears.

5.Or look like a famous person from Hope like the Ernest Hemingway contest down in Key West. Have the audience Judge.

6. A city wide scavenger hunt-we have one here in Miami run by the Miami Herald paper called the Tropic hunt!They use city land marks. You could shrink it to a park sized hunt.

7. What does Hope grow or produce? Like if it's corn then a corn cooking competition-best use of corn, best corn dessert.

8. Or sculpture in the product like those people who make sculptures out of butter, popcorn, chocolate. My favorite!

CANstruction-they made all the structures out of donated food cans and then after the competition the food cans went to the food bank!
