ScrubbieLady
They announced that an 8th grader in Memphis died of the H1N1 flu. I am not sure how they know since they are not testing but it was on the news tonight. Link to comment
Granny
am not sure how they know since they are not testing but it was on the news tonight. Possibly positive on influenza A with quick test. I believe 95% - 98% of those later proved to be swine flu which leads to using presumptive diagnosis rather than continuing to send all samples to CDC. The data suggests that a large number of H1N1 pediatric deaths involved serious underlying health conditions. But not all such as this case appears to be http://www.wmctv.com/global/story.asp?s=11087622. Also I read somewhere not all children testing positive for flu are exhibiting the "fever" symptom. A little worrisome when school guidelines only indicate to stay home with temp. Ds has been ill so I've been watching him very closely. Treating for sinus infection and he's getting better.
