1/2 c butter

1 (3-oz) pkg. cream cheese

1 1/2 c sifted powdered sugar

1/2 t baking powder

1 egg

1/2 t vanilla

1 3/4 c all-purpose flour

Powdered sugar icing

white nonpareils

Beat butter & cheese in a medium mixing bowl on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add powder sugar & baking powder; beat til combined. Beat in egg & vanilla. Beat in as much flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in remaining flour with a wooden spoon. Divide dough in half. Cover and chill for 1 hour or until easy to handle.

Roll each portion of dough on a lightly floured surface until 1/8 inch thick. Cut with a floured cookie cutter. Place cutouts 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8 to 9 minutes or edges or set. Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool. Glaze tops with icing. Using a decorating bag fitted with a fine plain tip, outline edges with additional icing. Immediately sprinkle outlines with white nonpareils.

Makes 42 (approx)

Powdered Sugar Icing: Stir together 2 c sifted powdered sugar & 2 T milk in a bowl. Add additional milk, 1 t at a time, until icing reaches drizzling consistency.
