logcabinmama
Another Genealogy tip from Emazing. Read the Death Records Carefully read the death certificate and obituary for your ancestor for additional research clues. While some of the information included may be second-hand knowledge provided by someone without all the details, some or all of the details may corroborate information you have already obtained or point you to a geographical locale where you may seek additional proof. - George Morgan Hope this helps someone. ------------------ Quote Link to comment
Homesteader
I have found death certificates to be a great source of information. Unfortunately, most states didn't require them until the early 1900's. It is also difficult to order D/C's by mail unless you know the exact death date. They are quite often well worth the effort though. Usually have maiden name of mother, place of birth, last address of deceased, cause of death, career etc. Alot more than you may realize.
