NO CAN OPENERS???

I know I own two manual and one electric, which I put away so we could all get used to using manual ones and to save a few pennies of electricity.

So when one broke today (and the kids didn't tell me) I should have been fine.

I could not find the other manual and the electric is in the completely overcrowded and rather disorganized cellar store room. After ten minutes search and getting very mad at myself for putting the cleaning and organizing off while I search for news on the internet, I gave up.

We are having a 'momcoction' for dinner. This time the Mom-coction is basically pasta sauce made with chicken broth instead of tomato because the broth is in a cardboard container. It has sausage, burger, onions, garlic, some spices....and peas. Why not? They are colorful in there anyway.

My 13yo son says it looks and smells great, but he will eat anything.

It was rather good. What is the Ranger saying? Something like Adapt, Improvise and overcome? I did!

Have lots of can openers...and make sure you get good ones. I made the mistake of buying some cheapie ones and they are too hard to turn.

The old 'Swing-Away' has got to be the most durable canopener in the world! Notice the word 'old'.

'taint what it used to be! I bought a new Swing-Away from Walmart (I keep threatening to do a personal boycott, but...I must be a glutton for punishment). The Swing's old logo was there but not as deeply etched as it should be. The lettering on every one of them was so faint I could barely read it. Sure enough, the thing only performed half as well as its older siblings. Walmartization at work.

I do buy a lot of the cheap $1 models, though. They're cheap enough that I usually put one in every 2nd or 3rd large box of canned goods...

My kids eat canopeners I swear. I can never find them when I need them. I have THREE swingaway canopeners. Can never find one. They are in the living room or a bed room, or on the table or on the FLOOR

So I beat them at their game. Or I let them win...whatever. I went and bought some old key type canopeners that they don't touch -- mainly because they haven't figured out how to USE THEM!

Now I always have a canopener.

Even if I don't LIKE it.
