  1. I am just a country gal, who has been doing the canning and preparing bit for quite a while. We always prepare for bad winter weather here, but I just kicked my preparations up a notch....I have been told that I am fanatical about this preparations deal......Guilty as charged
  2. I have had mine glass top ceramic stove for 3 years now, I do my canning on it. The maytag man told me that the main problem with that would be the moisture getting into the computer from the steam.
  3. good quality cast iron pans. ( will also work good in her emergency preparedness plans, in case she has to cook over an open fire)..
  4. I too, have the ceramic flat top stove, my pressure canner works fine on it. No problems at all.
  5. I do a lot of canning, and cooking. Whenever I put on a pot of beans, I always cook more than what I need for that meal. What is left I put into quart jars and can them (with seasoning meat)... That way, I have a quick easy mess of pintos without all the cooking...I do this with a lot of my dinner leftovers.Especially stews and soups and chili.....Instead of having to buy the canned stuff at the store....

    Now is the time

I keep my gas tanks full at all times, but I don't think it would do us much good to try and evacuate in case of a nuclear disaster. I have 3 nuclear power plants near where I live, The only direction for us to leave would be to go south. I have prepared a shelter in place room in my bedroom, it has a private bath in it.I have oil lamps, plenty of lamp oil, candles, batteries, flashlights, radio, battery operated tv. and enough foods and drinks stored in totes in the closet to last 4 weeks. I have also purchase the good ole duct tape, plastic sheeting, heavy sheets of cardboard and sheets of ply wood. I also have on hand dark garbage bags, a 5 gallon bucket with tight fitting lid (potty purposes)a camp stove, with fuel, toilet paper etc......
  7. You know what is bad, is when all that you want in life is, a shack in the woods, a couple of acres of land to live off of, and you can't afford that.
  8. some people are fanatics about certain things. My obsession is stocking and preparing. Hey at least it is legal!!!!!!!
  9. I spent the whole week watching every bit of Reagan's funeral, I even signed the guest book online for him. There were times that I would just sit here and cry my eyes out. I just lost my mother in May of last year(my birthday) and I feel Poor Nancy's pain....We fought a two year battle with my mom's illness, we took care of her at home for a year and then we lost her. Ronald was a good man....
  10. My name is Pam, I am 39, I live in Tennessee. Have been married for 9 years, have 3 small boys ages 3 1/2, 7, 9 years old. I love gardening, canning, preserving, cooking. My favorite shows are on food network, reading.
  11. I look at my ball blue book as my survival bible.. I have my HOLY BIBLE and my BALL BLUE BOOK BIBLE... I live by both.
