  1. ((((((Debbie)))))) It's almost like losing a (human) member of the family. frown.gif

Is that a pic of your kittie in your sig?

We have 2 cats and a dog. Got the first cat prior to Y2K as a potential mouser. Got the second one cause my son found her caught in a bush outside of his workplace. Mr. Butterscotch (kittie #1) is more like a doggie- comes when you call him, begs for food, will eat out of your hand, etc. Bobbie (#2) is definately an outside cat, but not as wild as she would have been had she remained a stray. smile.gif [ALL the animals are "fixed".] She comes home when she's hungry. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

  2. Visit this website and take the True Talent Test!!! shocked.gif

You'll have to sign up, and they will offer to sell you something (did you expect anything different?), but, the test is VERY taxing-so be rested, and make sure you have some time before you start. Here are MY results:

    quote:

Midnightmom, your true talent is verbal ability

You seem to know how to pick the right words for almost every occasion. Beyond your ability to interpret information and articulate your points, you appear to understand the power and aesthetic appeal behind language. Your verbal knowledge can make you versatile in expressing yourself. And your skills in this arena also allow you to pick up subtle meanings behind what people say.

These specialized communication skills can be of huge value in a variety of business and social environments.

How do we know that your true talent is verbal ability? While you were taking the test, we calculated your responses to each test question, and noticed that, relative to others, you consistently answered questions that measure verbal ability correctly.

  3. Lions smile.gif

My favorite all time song ever is "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by the Tokens. grin.gif

My first lion was the kind of ceramic which sits on the edge of the shelf, but the paws hang over. I put this on the box that contains the remains of my beloved poochie cause that's where she "sleeps tonight."

Anyway, I just decided to make it a full blown collection and it has increased somewhat dramatically in the last year since I have become a "serious collector." grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

  4. Dar-it could be cause it kinda duplicates "From the Heart" (or whatever the name of the other forum is shocked.gif )

Maybe a little bit of clarification might be in order??? confused.gif

Edited: Ok- I went back and found out the "proper" name of the aforementioned forum grin.gif- "Where the Heart Is."]

  5. Hey Snow-

Lard and butter are fine-it's the flour in the crust and the sugar in the filling that are the "problem." BTW-the humble egg Egg_anim.gif has been exonerated of causing cholesterol problems, BUT, the hydrogenated oils in the Crisco ARE a problem.

Soooooooooooooooooo.......if you were going to bake a pie- pie.gif -use the lard, go easy on the added sugar, and eat a small slice. smile.gif (easier said than done)

  7. Momo-

Sounds kinda like an Atkins/Somersize cross--would that be an "Atsize" or a "Somerkin" diet!?!?!?!?!? confused.gifshocked.gifconfused.gif

(The Somer-part is the fruit, the At-part is that you aren't following the food combination aspect of the Somer-part. smile.gif Actually, it sounds more like the traditional maintainence part of the Atkins diet.)

Did you grow your own cantalope???

  8. ICE!!! I love ice!!!! I would have missed ice soooooooooooooooooooooo much if the power grid had gone down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shocked.gif

I think I will sneak close and "pretend" to admire the ice sculpture wink.gif *Midnightmom ooohs and aaaahs to cover the sound of her chipping away at the ice* grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

    Happy Birthday Cookie!!!!!!!

    HOW MUCH IS DANGEROUS?

    For Adults

A glass a day melts the thyroid away. From USA Woman's World, Mar 16 2001. AVOIDING SOY .... As little as 30mg of soy isoflavones--the amount in 5-8 ounces of soymilk - have been proven to suppress thyroid function. "The isoflavones in soy act like a hormone in the body. And in many women, especially those who eat large amounts of concentrated soy powder or take isoflavone supplements, this disturbs the body's hormonal balance, triggering or worsening thyroid problems," explains Dr. Larian Gillespie, author of "The Goddess Diet". Some experts are even calling for the makers of soy products to remove these antithyroid isoflavones from their products.

Soy protein has been assessed by the Australia/New Zealand Food Authority as posing potential hazards to consumers as to sexual maturation, sexual differences, foetal and neonatal brain development, and to thyroid function of children and adults (ANZFA)

  11. Ginger-

Look for a protein drink made with whey(milk) protein isolate-NOT soy protein isolate. See my other posts to find out why. smile.gif
