  1. Hey Debbie, Welcome to our family. I'm still a "family friend', but I'm almost a "family member". I hope to have a party here on the Sunporch when I do become a "family member". Debbie, I just love the picture of your hen. She is beautiful. I just love chickens. cleanheart

  11. GOOD MORNING SKIFFGIRL Welcome to the family of Mrs.Survival. We are like a family in that we all are different, from different places and have different skills and expericences to share with others. We are all like friends, we draw different things we need from many. I look forward to getting to know you and learning from you. cleanheart
  12. WOW Susie, I want to make bacon. Can I do that living in a warm place like Alabama?
  13. Hey everybody, I have a styrofoam incubator and have had good results as well. We've been doing some experimenting with hatching hens and roosters for years. And now we can hatch about 95% hens with this method. It's going to probably sound weird to some, but it works for us. I can tell as well by the same method if it's a girl or a boy. And I'm right more than I'm wrong. Here goes.. An old country lady told me her mother hatched out hens. She said if the egg is pointed at the end, it's a rooster. If it's more rounded and oval, it's a hen. And she's been right. We have high percentages of hens vs roosters in our incubator. Try it before you knock it, and let me know. Oh, how I love my chickens!!
  14. Oh my goodness!!! I've realized how much I take MrsSurvival for granted!!! I LOVE Y'ALL SO MUCH!!!!!! I thank the Lord for you and for your wisdom and friendship. I'm glad I'm a part of the family. cleanheart
  15. MtRider, thank you so very much. That is a lot of help. I caught myself in church today thinking about the BOB. I feel so behind in everything. I hope no one noticed me being distracted. 16. Thank you Mt.Rider, This is excellent info. and very helpful. What kind of info. do you have in your Basic Food Storage binders? I find it very difficult to put things by as my dh is out of work. But we can do something. I printed off the ideas for cooking with BFS. But I was wondering if you could give me a heads up on what kind of info. you have in your binders. Maybe it would help us. Thanks again, Cleanheart
  17. Thank You Momo for a great web-site. We have bee hives and are concerned about the disapearing of the honey bees. This will help us keep a record of our bees and help others as well. Here in Lee/Chambers county in AL we have a bee club that will be interested in this as well. Where in AL are you? Thanks again,
  18. :banana2: :banana2: :banana2:Hey Everybody, I'm not excited or anything, but with our "gift" from our wonderful president, we were able to buy a 2840 Food Saver vacuum sealer. I made Chicken Club hot pockets today for lunch and vacuum sealed the others, labeled them and put them in the freezer for a quick healthy cheap lunch later on... I can't wait to play with it putting up everything I can think of. I also bought 2 50'x 8" rolls and 2 50'x11" rolls. I hope that will last a while, but Somehow I don't think so. Depends on how much I seal. Well, I just wanted to share my good news with y'all cause I know we are all on the same page here with preserving and all, and a lot of y'all have a Food Saver already and know how wonderful it is. AND AS FAR AS THE GOVERNMENT IS CONCERNED, "NOTHING" IS A FREE GIFT!!! We'll all have to pay the tax on Presidents Bushes gift next year. Some stimulous package!!! Well, I'll enjoy the Food Saver just the same......
  19. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HSMOM!!!!! The Lord has blessed you with another year to serve Him. What a blessing you have been to your family and friends here on Mrs. Survival. May the Lord continue to bless you. Hope you had a special day, yesterday.
  20. I got a 2840 Food Saver for mothers day present. Ordered 2 rolls of 11" and 2 roll of 8" bags. :banana2: 28 quarts of chicken. 14 quarts of Mexican Black Beans, 14 quarts of Pork and Beans. bought 30# rice, 25# sugar, 20# black eye peas, bought a flat of wide mouth canning lids, and a flat of reg. canning lids. DH is working on converting our vehicles to using water so we will get better gas mileage.
  21. Hey Susan, glad you found us. I think it's a blessing how we all can share what we know with eachother and learn from one another. Can't wait to chat with you sometime. I love to make soap, lotions, chap stick, bath salts, liquid soap. Been doing it for 14 years now. It all started cause of my son having eczema. Have a great day tomorrow.
  22. I have added you and your family to my prayer journal. Keep us updated, so we can give God the glory.
  23. It's so like the Father to make the Proverb of the day fit into our lives during the day. As we learn from wisdom, we can see it in our everyday situations wheather at work or home. Application I mean, either in our lives or in the lives of others. It sure can save us from a whole lot of trouble.
  24. Yes, doing an online bible study with everyone here sounds interesting especially in Romans. We all will definitely have to keep our armor on and definitely keep Darlene in our prayers everyday as she will be especially interesting to the enemy. Count me in.
  25. I am joining you in that prayer Darlene.
