So true Mt. Rider.....I was speaking with my Daddy about this and he was talking about the Israel issue and the possibility of ammo even going higher and getting more scarce. He didn't know much about the Ebola situation until I informed him....now it seems it's becoming more of a story on MSM. He said the same as you....nothing you can do but what you can do.... and all you CAN do about this situation is make sure you are stocked as much as possible. He has many relatives and friends in NYC who are eager for information. He meets with them at social functions to update them. After a few days, he becomes ill. At first, he is in denial and puts down his symptoms to some bad seafood. But the symptoms get worse. He finally goes to a prestigious medical center where he announces that he is from Liberia and may have Ebola. A superbly trained staff spring into action. The patient is isolated in a room with appropriate ventilation. All staff wear PPE. Although the patient dies, no HCWs get infected. Meanwhile, one of the Liberian's less affluent American friends has gotten on a bus to Philadelphia. She vomits in the rest room at the bus station. The cleaning staff don't get to the vomitis for a couple of hours and don't do a good job of cleaning it up. The American friend goes to a crowded, poorly funded medical clinic and sits for 2 hours waiting to see a doctor. She goes to the bathroom with diarrhea and is too sick to wash her hands properly. Finally, she sees a nurse practioner who sends her home with several prescriptions to relieve her gastrointestinal problems. The patient gets sicker. Now, she goes to the ER of a busy city hospital. After waiting for an hour, she sees a nurse who realises that the woman is very ill. A doctor sees her and tests are begun. At some point, she is asked if she has recently returned from West Africa. The patient answers no, failing to mention the party where she met the Liberian official. Eventually, the woman is transferred to a hospital with more advanced facilities and specialists. Here, she is diagnosed with Ebola. No HCWs are infected from the primary case (the Liberian official). But from the secondary case (the American friend)? Putting aside the concerns that I have personally and putting myself in the families shoes.....I can't IMAGINE what the family in TX is going through. Many have vilified them for no just cause. This woman is having to deal with knowing her husband will most likely die as well as fear for her and her children's safety as well. These are GOOD people who KNEW the risk but took God's call to help....they had no idea when they came here for that family event this would transpire. I'm sure that they are finding comfort in knowing that their loved one will be transported here where they can get better care although the prognosis is not good. My prayers are with all of these affected, the ones who will come in contact with them and the ones who are still there....some trapped.
