  1. No no, not plastic. It's ceramic / stoneware stuff. That's the only reason I still have it. Every so often I get a burst of energy and I'll have at it with a scrubbie, and small bits come off. I guess I'll just have to keep on keepin' on.... Thanks, Alie Jo
  2. These are really good ideas... now do you have any equally great ideas for how to get burnt stuff off of a plate? Please please? I forgot that I had placed a dinner plate with a styrofoam container from the day before Thanksgiving, in the oven. Naturally, when I heated up my oven, the food and all became a carcinogenic mess on my plate. Any ideas much appreciated! Alie Jo
  3. Ooooh yes, I'm with you on that! Any one of these menus sounds like a lovely, yummy way-to-go.
  4. BigSkyMommy, I got your ornament yesterday. Too cute!
  5. Are all of the ornaments out? I haven't counted mine, but they are all absolutely adorable! Alie Jo
  6. Nope, just rare and beautiful. Alie Jo
  7. Mom [Cookie] has received ornaments from a couple of you, but although she can read here, for some reason she can't post. She said they were cute, and I will look a little later and find out which ones they were. *sigh* I have to say that my ornaments will be late. The ornaments and notes are all ready to go, but I won't have the $$ to mail them until my sweetie's VA check comes on Dec 1st. But I will *not* be a no-show. My ornaments will go out ASAP, and just to make things fair, I'm going to save all the ornaments that are coming in -- I received one from Mom and one from Becca Anne on Saturday -- and open them on the day mine go out, as Becca Anne did. Please pray for me to find the right job, and preferably soon. Alie Jo
  8. Are you saying you're "spicy", then? Alie Jo, a mildly seasoned 42...
  9. MommaFitz! What a simply adorable ornament! Thanks! Alie Jo
  10. And I've finished my note -- my muse took it over, so expect anything, ladies!
  11. This sounds viable. I will try it. Thanks! So how is your raisin-basting coming along? What is Rum Topf? Actually, just about anything sounds good over pound cake or ice cream. You mean, any excuse for a tipple? Hmmmmm..... Alie Jo
  12. COTTAGE POTATOES ...this is one if those recipes that you make as you like it. If you don’t want cheese, or prefer chopped ham instead of the sausages, or hate green peppers, or have no red peppers, just DO it! This recipe sounds goood! I may not wait till T-Day to try it. Besides, it's good to find a recipe that takes well to fiddlin'. I like to experiment. In fact, on occasion, my [extended] family has asked me "please don't put food in the food." But they might actually like this, ya never know... Alie Jo
  13. PeacefulHome, your story sounds similar to my sweetie's background. He was raised by his single mother, but didn't know his father's family at all. The father [now deceased] was considered a jerk and a tomcat by the 3 wives who divorced him, and by one of the sons [DH's half-brother] who even now refers to him only as "the sperm donor". Alie Jo
  14. you could use a low fat option to the butter... Let me know how it turns out and good luck getting that cholesterol down Thanks, I'll need all the luck I can get! I will look for some kind of substitute, and let you know how it works out, yes. Thanks again, Alie Jo
  15. November 13 is the deadline, I believe. I'm hoping so, because I can really use a bit more time to get these done! Alie Jo
  16. Will do. Mom misses all her [2 or 3] bbs, including here. She finally managed to struggle through the pop-ups -- after several tries -- to send me an e-mail today. Hopefully my youngest sister, still living with her, can either fix the problem, or call tech support to help. Baby Sis is good at computer-things. Alie Jo
  17. This is a great question! I love many different periods, some for the romance, some just for the fascinating details, depending on my mood.
  18. I don't know if Mom [cookie43] has been on here recently, mstooke, but she mentioned to me that she received her ornament from you, and that it is adorable.
  19. I haven't, Buttercup. You're not alone. I'm still working on part three. I'm getting there... slowly. Alie Jo, who hasn't received any yet, but is anticipating goodies
  20. Scalloped Corn Quilty, do you think the corn dish would be hurt if I left the butter out? I'm trying to go low-fat as much as I can, get my high LDL number to come down... Well, if not, I guess it can't hurt to try it for a holiday. It sounds wonderful! Alie Jo
