  1. Oh I want to join this one! I used to do ornament exchanges with my MHL bunch, and before that, on Prodigy -- before it was Prodigy.net -- a Canadian girl and I had started a group doing a monthly "Round Robin" of crochet squares. I love to get stuff in the mail! Alie Jo
  2. Here are a couple of doilies that look like they might work as snood material: Cotillion Doily and Christmas Snowflake Doily [which resembles a pineapple filet -- one of my fave filet patts] Denise's Crochet Paradise My computer is running slower than molasses today, or I'd have probably found some more... Alie Jo, ready for a coffee and crumpet break
  3. Has anyone started a snood yet? I bought a skein of soft yellow yarn, a small bag of assorted-pastel pearl beads in various shapes, and a couple of yards of transparent pink ribbon. Then I started on a patt from here: Rickrack Snood It calls for rickrack, but I'm not going there ! I figure I will combine this piece with the lining idea from here: Lined Hair Snood Haven't figured out what color will best bring out the soft yellow yarn and pastel notions... But I'll have a unique item. Alie Jo, being creative and stirring things up
  4. Doesn't look like it to me either, Buttercup. Although family legend has it that "Grandpa Patterson was let out of the Army near Bull's Pass, TN", and I have not been able to find anything resembling a "Bull's Pass". I've been assuming that it was in Roane co, because that is where Nancy was born. Any ideas? Alie Jo
  5. Here are some pages I found today: Crocheted Snoods-Bun Cover Links -- lotsa patts here, both kinds Crochet Guild of America -- I didn't have time to look at anything like all of their links! The Pattern Search Board -- this one has only the Perky Snood, but also has a lot of good search tips, and a message board where you can ask for patts. Crochet Partners -- this one has a the Perky Snood and the Elegant Snood in its pattern library, as well as crochet chat and a Cafe Crochet Contest. <??> Could be fun. That's all so far, Alie Jo
  6. These have some good patterns, and I figure the beautiful pix on that one site could very well be copied, with a little planning. Okay, a lot of trial-and-error. Most of the sites I have tried to find myself, have had the Perky Snood, with the same pic. Today I looked again and had some luck. See my next post on that score. Thanks again! Alie Jo
  7. This recipe definitely merits a try! I can never find a ranch dressing thick enough for my taste. Maybe it's time to make my own... Alie Jo
  8. Does anyone have or know where I could find crochet patterns for hand mitts -- fingerless, but with a hole for thumb. Preferably old patterns, Regency-era or even earlier. I am looking for something that perhaps I could work beads into, or use ribbon with... My other request is for a snood pattern. Not a bun cover, although I've used those too, but a snood that covers the entire back of the head. I have such quantities of hair -- thanks to my father's side of the family! -- that I want to gather the stuff up and get it out of my way at work, without making a tight Deanna-Troi-prim-bun out of it, as I've been doing all summer. Alie Jo
  9. Well, I have another site to look at -- I haven't investigated that second one at length yet -- and for all your help! Alie Jo
