  1. 5 more cases in that community I mentioned above. Another couple in their 30s and their three little boys, ages 10, 6 and 4. The husband's parents both have covid and that's where the family got it. The grandpa died last night. :(

  2. At least 6 people in a local community about 6-10 miles from us have or had COVID. A married couple in their 30s, a married couple in their mid 70s (she died last week), that lady's brother in his late 60s, and man in his 40s. He has a wife and 5 kids but I don't know if any of them are sick.  This man is a minister and a rural mail carrier. At least 51 school kids and 9 school staff were in quarantine as of last weekend. This is stats from a couonty school system with several schools. The local health department had a news conference on local TV and said they are no longer able to identify clusters of cases. They said to exercise extreme caution when going away from home, etc. because it's everywhere and they don't know where since they can't ID clusters anymore. They said "We are in a very bad place in the pandemic right now".

I ruined a pot of soup last night and had to send DH out for chic-fil-a.  The kids were happy but I was annoyed.  Newer crockpots just cook way too hot.

The baby is doing well but I am exhausted from the entire year.  My household is slowly descending into chaos as I let things slide b/c I am too tired to care anymore.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Please don't let post-partum depression sneak up on you.  That happened to me once and I didn't realize why I was so miserable emotionally and physically.  Is there anyone you can ask to help you out or give you a break so you can get some extra sleep or time for yourself? I am praying for you.

  4. At Food Lion today, a cashier told me that they had ordered canning jars every week for over two months now and the supplier has never sent them.  He said several other items were the same, including some dairy products. he didn't say what specifically.

  5. WE2, I am so sorry about your grandson. That would be hard for anybody but for a young man just beginning his adult life especially. It's sad too when families are split like that. Glad to hear that Mr WE2 got some of his dental work done! I really dread dental work and always feel like a great burden has lifted off my shoulders when I get a trip over with.

I hope everyone else is doing OK this morning. I'm taking Mom's little dog to the vet for an allergy shot. DH cut his hair last night. Rusty seems really happy to get that done. :)

If it turns out I have to cut out alliums or dairy, I think I'm giving up on feeding everybody else at that point and just buying them flats of ramen and mac & cheese..

I had to give up dairy about 36 years ago when I developed lactose intolerance. Alliums were actually much more difficult for me than dairy. It took me about a year of pain and bloating to come to terms with  the fact that it really was hurting me! I missed them more than dairy too.

I'm so tired of messing with food.  Without doing gluten and nightshades, it greatly reduces my options.  If I add in the fact that hubby won't eat beans, squash, or sweet potatoes, it REALLY reduces my options.  How the heck am I supposed to build up a food stash when I can't even figure out what to feed us on a daily basis half the time?  I mean, I'll stock up on things we can all eat, but mac & cheese and chicken Alfredo is only going to go so far.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I empathize. Going off gluten, onions, garlic and all alliums, peanut butter took all the fun out of church potlucks. You will eventually get it figured out but it's a journey for sure.

  8. Speaking of sweet potatoes...we just tried eating the cooked leaves for lunch and we all like them. Has anyone tried them? We need to cut the tops off before frost so we decided to freeze some.

Today we are harvesting nearly everything in our gardens--tomatoes, okra, basil, cucumbers, beans, ground cherries. Everything that would be killed by frost. The forecast for last night was for a low of 38 but we had 34. We are always a little lower. Monday night forecast is for 37 so.....:(

  9. Wednesday, DD and I had eye glasses appointments and Mom had a doctor appt. We ran into Food City to use the bathroom and one whole aisle had absolutely nothing on the shelves. I figured they were just reorganizing. When we came back through several hours later, they had put some square boxes of something on one section of a shelf. this aisle was first aid, shampoo, etc.

DH and I usually go grocery shopping once a month when the co-op order comes in but we haven't been for over two months. We need to go and get some things.

  10. Some of you may remember that I posted a link to an article by Dr Wes Youngberg and a video where he talked about using a dilute iodine spray for the sinuses, throat and even just spraying your face to kill viruses, when the Coronavirus was first becoming a thing in the US. We've been using the iodine ever since then and it cleared up a chronic sinus problem that I had had for weeks and weeks. My head above my eyes was so sore, I couldn't even touch my eyebrow hairs without great pain! The links are in the coronavirus thread if anyone wants to check it out.

  11. I tried to quote Ambergris and WE2s but couldn't get it to work.

To me "the kind" Ambergris is referring to  means this: We all know there are people who learn from reading and observing  the experience of others and there are people who learn from having the experience themselves. DH has a relative like that. If it's not happening to her or someone she knows, it's not happening. She has to physically or emotionally experience something to believe that it can happen.

  12. Just checking in. I enjoy reading everyone's posts and often comment in my mind!

Our weather right now is sunny, chilly and very windy. We are staying busy, working on the deer fence, sowing seeds, plowing and tilling gardens, paying bills, listening to church via Zoom or FaceBook, watching the birds, working jigsaw puzzles, memorizing Bible verses, studying the Bible, praying, keeping in touch with friends and family by phone and email, cooking,  etc. That about sums it up!  Stay well!

  13. kappydell, just a thought. When DS was so sick with ulcerative colitis, his ankles started swelling, it gradually moved up into his legs. His albumin was off but I don't remember now if it was too low or to high but the bottom line was that the cause of the swelling was allergies and "hidden" kidney infection. The hospital tested his kidneys but nothing showed up. Then another doctor put him on a 10 day dose of an antibiotic (I would have to look up the name but it wasn't one that he'd been on before.). DS lost nearly 13 pounds of fluid in 24 hours! Every spring for a few years, his ankles would swell but it would go away later on in the summer. Finally a spring came when there was no more swelling and he's been good ever since. He had allergy testing for foods over time and gradually learned what he needed to eliminate and it finally took care of the swelling.

Told granddaughter about it and he won't do it.  But he may be going into pneumonia now. So she is going to try to work on him trying the hydrotherapy again. Maybe this time he will do it.  She went to school for physical therapy. But changed over to training police dogs and such. She was familiar with it.

I am praying he will agree to let her do the treatments on him.  I know I would tell my husband "I'm doing it anyway!"

thank you Daylily,  I am watching it now.

I hope it was helpful and that your GD will try it on her husband. I have used it for three different people with pneumonia and it works.

  16. I wish somebody would tell them about the hydrotherapy treatments!  The hospital has nothing that will cure the virus. The hydrotherapy is so simple and it really works. I wish everybody could know about it.

  17. I got the name of the iodine wrong that we are using. It's called Liquid Iodine Forte.  1 drop contains 150 mcg of iodine as potassium iodide.

The liquid vitamin D is Bio-D-Mulsion Forte. ONe drop contains 2000 iu of vitamin D as cholecalciferol in a sesame oil carrier,
