  1. Littlesister I'm really sorry your GS is giving you attitude you don't need that. Hope his labs come back good so he can get into the Coast Guard and hope he grows up a bit.

We got all the A/C units out of the windows yesterday and today I raked more leaves. Have done about 1/3 of the front yard, started where they were thickest. Will be plenty more of that for the next few weeks. I also spent most of the day reading my book for book group which was a nice way to spend a rainy Sunday

  2. Miki hope Peanut feels better soon

Momo I feel you on the lists. Mine are so long and we just get one item done and it feels like 2-3 get added to the list.

Blessedhomemaker puppies are so fun enjoy your new furbaby

MtRider it's really hard to be so far from your mom. Is it time to have someone with her 24/7?

Necie your grandbaby is so cute

Littlesister hope that loan goes through for you

Jeepers glad you got in a visit with your family and so glad you're getting closer to the end of your project.

Mother Nature decided to give us a huge temp shift overnight. High was 80 yesterday and will be a high of 53 today! First freeze tonight, harvested the last of the garden and zinnias last night. Leaves all over need to be raked and taking the air conditioners out of the windows today. Haven't turned on the heat yet this season but it will probably get cold enough in the house to kick on. I have it set to 64 but hoping we get one more night without it being needed. Natural Gas prices are so expensive.

  3. Littlesister hope your shoulder feels better!

Miki hope your DH's Dr apt went well.

I went to the quilt show today and also to an antique store. Picked up a few autumn decorations for my mantle, and a fun tea cart which I will use as my coffee station, and a teak tray which was in great shape. Bought a bunch of fat quarters at $1 each which was a great deal. I really enjoyed myself. Now resting and then will finish off the tool project and clear the few items DH hasn't put away and we'll be done!

  4. Euphrasyne -sounds like your family will have a lot of fun for Halloween. I have to get Ben to pick a costume and get on that. I have some pumpkins on the porch but haven't gone big with my decorations yet. Next year I plan to up my game on that.

Jeepers-So happy to hear that progress is being made on your house! Hope that this phase will be behind you soon.

Mt Rider-Glad you are getting out to get some social time and glad you got a chance to go ride even if it was cold.

Momo-It can be so challenging to find anyone who even knows what they are doing with house/yard work these days. We have found it very challenging as well.

Annarchy-That's a big job glad you got it done you should feel very accomplished :hapydancsmil:

Littlesister- Glad you are enjoying the new grandbaby. Nothing better than those sweet newborn cuddles.

Kappy-Great job preserving the zucchini! Our plants were very prolific this year but next year I want to dehydrate some I froze all of mine this year and it's taking up too much freezer space.

Miki- You're off to a productive start to your day I'm sure you'll come up with something to keep you busy

I don't have a lot to report except that my hubby and I are working on organizing the tools. They were all over the house. This weekend we got them sorted into bins by type (painting, woodworking, plumbing, etc) and only a few more areas to bring things in to sort then it will all go down to the basement except the small toolboxes. Looking forward to no more screws and picture hangers in random places all over the house.  Right now they are all over my kitchen....but you sometimes have to make a mess before you can get it all organized. Should be done by tonight I hope I want my counters back

  5. Jeepers the person cleaning your ears should have stopped when you had pain and had the medical provider look in your ears. It's only supposed to be done for 10 min and you're supposed to stop if it's too painful. Debrox is used to soften the ear wax before the procedure and we have patients put it in their ears daily for 4 days before they come in to have their ears lavaged. If there is a perforation in the ear drum it can cause issues I think you should go back in to see your Dr and have them check for infection or perforation I'm worried there is something wrong you shouldn't still be having any discomfort. I'm so sorry that happened to you!

  6. Jeepers I've noticed the same thing about the frozen foods so many still seem scantily stocked.

Littlesister so sorry you are having trouble sleeping. Lots going on and sometimes hard to turn the brain off can do that.

Mt Rider I am with you I was up late last night catching up with Mrs S. Sorry this morning though I'm dragging

Ooh that cheesecake sounds amazing Miki!

I am only working half of the day today, comp time for working more earlier this week so I will try to do something fun this afternoon. I've been reading a lot and have 2 more books on hold at the library so will probably pop over there to pick those up. Tomorrow we have 4H so need to pick up some snacks for that. Need to schedule my flu shot. Other than that not much going on and I'm going to try to relax and just enjoy that.

  7. Congratulations Littlesister

Mt Rider glad your Headache finally went away. Hope you start feeling better soon

    Miki how wonderful Congratulations!!:hapydancsmil:

It's so much cooler here now haven't turned on the heat yet but probably will need to soon. Focused on work today but did manage to get to the library to pick up a book I have on hold. Also just finished reading the Handmaid's Tale for my library book group. I have been reading a lot more lately. And knitting, almost done making a shawl for myself.

  8. Hello all I'm back to feeling more myself. Almost all better.  Got out into the garden yesterday and cleared out all the tomato vines and then planted 40 cloves of garlic.  We had a huge temperature shift in our area this week going from 90 down to the high 60's-mid 70's with it in the 40's at night so fall has arrived and it is such a relief the heat was starting to feel oppressive. I love having the windows open and to air out the house especially after everyone being ill.

  9. Interesting. I went to a private school for K and 1st grad and learned math first this way with blocks that looked almost exactly like these and perhaps it would have been great if I had remained at that school and then progressed with their program, but we moved and I was put into a conventional math class and I was so lost and struggled very hard with math throughout my schooling. So I think it's important to introduce how to do it both ways from the beginning if you're going to use these. Manipulatives can be great for kids who learn visually.

  10. Oh boy so sorry this happened in your new workplace MartianChick! :hug3: No one has the right to just walk in and demand access to anything. They can't be stopped from walking in the lobby and have the right to go to the open public spaces, but back office access opening drawers and filming children? Heck no. I agree play music in the lobby, post signs stating no filming, and maybe lobby to have a training on what to do in the future for these kinds of situation both for you and the security personnel. They let you down. I'd look into legal options for a lawsuit against this individual I'm willing to bet their actions broke several laws.

  11. Thank you everyone! Most in the house are on the mend, but I finally developed full symptoms. I guess my body was trying to fight it off since I've had some symptoms (fatigue, sweats and low grade fever) for 10 days now and just developed sore throat, congestion and body aches yesterday. Hoping it's short lived since I am ready to get my life back. I am just resting and doing little things that don't take too much energy. I have some garlic bulbs Music variety that I separated all the cloves for. I'll plant those soon but first have to clear out the spot in the garden where they will go but need to feel better before I tackle that.

Jeepers so glad you have your hotel set up for the month and hope soon you can get back into your house.

Littlesister I hope your GS was able to get signed up for the Coast Guard. You have been more than patient with him.

Mt Rider so glad you will get to ride I know that is something that really helps you.

Midnightmom thank you for that info! Patriotnurse is very knowledgeable.

  12. We are all on the mend I had the mildest symptoms just a low grade fever and that's gone now. DH had a bad cough so I got him on the Paxlovid and he is improving with that. Everyone else just has cold symptoms that are almost gone. I did end up re-homing my two remaining chickens today after I went out to the coop and one more was dead today.  Super sad. But just not worth the stress for me right now to work on this. When we get a fence up I'll revisit it again with a different set up but not this year.

  13. Well it was a good run, but COVID finally came to our house. My 22 yr old picked it up on the plane and has tested positive today. DH has a cough now and since we sleep in the same bed I'm sure I've been exposed. I tested negative today, no symptoms crossing my fingers I stay that way.

Miki I'm glad you're getting your porch decorated. I bought pumpkins at the farmer's market today and want to pick up a few more. Took photos but I need to get them off the camera so I can share. I plan to save the seeds since I don't have these varieties and then I can grow them for myself in the future.

Littlesister glad you came through the storm without major issues

Midnightmom I'm sorry that happened to you

Jeepers glad the inspection headaches are good for something!

  14. Jeepers sounds like they are really making great progress on your house now.

Littlesister hope the storm doesn't flood too badly.

WE2 good to hear from you sounds like you're doing great!

Miki I'm with you on the porch decorating. Hoping to pick up some mums and decorative Pumpkins then next few weeks and call in fall with my decor   I am over the heat

This week flew by, garden is still producing tomatoes, peppers and now eggplant I have two that are growing nicely. I had given up on them since I have had blossoms for a month but no fruit until this week. I also harvested some celery. The stalks are very tiny but I chopped up 2 bunches and the leaves will be good for soup. I am going to let the rest go a bit longer before harvesting it. My back is feeling a lot better but still babying it a bit. I plan to read and crochet this weekend, might go to the farmers market tomorrow.

  15. Jeepers we had an issue with the carpet install 2 houses ago, they placed the line for the 2nd piece of carpet 2 feet inside the front door and then cut it crooked so it didn't even line up well. The quality of the carpet was so bad it was very obvious. We fought to get it fixed but did not get it done to our satisfaction and never got it resolved to our satisfaction. They cut another small piece and straightened the cut so it matched better but it was still visible. Did sell the house but I was very upset about it I felt it really lowered our ability to attract buyers. It really is true that customer service is dead now.

Littlesister hope your GS liver improves. The good news is if he changes now liver is good at recovering and can regenerate healthy cells. Hopefully the mono clears up for him soon but it can take awhile to get healthy.

Miki hope you can get the issue resolved on that package

Annarchy in your area lizards are a great outdoor pet :)

Today was long workday. I didn't stop until 6:30pm and then just ate dinner and put the chickens to bed. I harvested some basil and chopped it and froze it in ice cubes. Ben didn't know why someone had made a huge mess and smashed plants into the ice cube trays and threw one away before we could explain. :yuk:It was funny. :24: Fortunately I have a ton of basil left.

  16. That's very pretty Midnightmom. A shame no one seems to set that kind of table except for weddings or holiday meals anymore. I have a set of China, but we never have dinner guest so ours just gets used for the holidays or special occasions.

  17. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Back is improving a bit today I can bend forward enough to get up off the couch now. But this morning I almost couldn't get out of bed! I can roll to my right just fine but it took an insane amount of effort to figure out how to roll to my left side so I could leverage myself out of bed. I was actually scared I couldn't get up. Thankfully I managed and once i got up and moving around and took a hot shower I have done better today less painful and possible to get off the couch without help. Will be putting a big pillow under me tonight though so I'm not 100% flat. Sorry to hear so many of you have back issues too. I am usually very limber and only tweak my back every 10 yrs or so in general but when I do it's always bad.

Today I mostly read a book for my book group that meets tomorrow. I didn't enjoy it very much though. Well they all can't be winners or my cup of tea I guess! It's starting to feel more fall like here temps are down in the 50's at night and only low 80's in the daytime. I am enjoying opening the windows again!
