  1. Mt Rider yes it's a spray, that acts locally in the nasal passages and reduces swelling in both the sinuses and Eustachian tubes up to your ears.. That allows the fluid to drain normally, and based on what you're describing with the nasal rinse you have a lot of swelling in there too that is trapping liquid.

  2. Necie ouch :( Hopefully he learns this time to be sensible that will take awhile to heal and hopefully he won't puncture a lung with all those broken ribs.

MtRider I 2nd the nasal spray. I have bad allergies and used to get ear infections from them due to tree pollen. Since I've used Nasonex or Flonase I haven't had any. I think you can get both over the counter but please check with your Dr and pharmacist to make sure they are safe for you if you decide to try it. Flying with fluid in your ears is so incredibly painful so I hope you can get it to resolve in time.

Littlesister I hope your GS can learn what he needs to. It's hard watching the struggle.:hug3:

Jeepers hope the yard comes together soon. Good idea getting a light you can take with you to make the garage easier to see.

Miki you're making me want to go buy some figs :feedme:

Today was work, my mammogram which came back clear (can't believe how fast they got me the results!) and then book group which was fun. Tomatoes and Peppers and other plants ready to go into the garden but have to let the soil dry out a bit more so probably will be Friday since more rain in the forcast.

  3. MtRider hope it starts being spring there soon for you!

Necie so sorry to hear about your son's accident hope he heals up ok. 4 wheelers make me so nervous.

Littlesister nice job getting that driveway cleared! You must feel great having the wood all put up.

Jeepers I hope the house can get on the market soon. I wouldn't sink too much $$ into it just nice grass and small shrubs/flowers so it's not bare. Not too much as no one is into maintenance these days. Some pretty hanging baskets to add some annual color.

I got my sunflowers planted today, just randomly throughout the garden and hoping they sprout and don't get eaten by critters. Whatever I get will be great. We had a storm blow through last night some plants look a little wilted that I put out yesterday but I think they will bounce back. The dahlias look like they grew overnight! Next up is to dig the holes for the bush cherries, blueberries and plum trees. I need to pick up some straw too. But that's for another day I'm tired. The electric co is bringing me wood chips next month so if I get everything in place, put down landscape fabric and cardboard around them should keep the weeds/grass down before I can get the wood chips.

  4. Well I hope to have enough Rhubarb to do that next year, the plants I put in are growing! My mom used to make great rhubarb jam I hope I can get her to teach me next year when ours is ready.

I did make pumpkin bread from the pumpkin I froze last fall today. I still have several packages so it looks like I put up a years supply :) I'm also using yellow squash I froze last year and kale from my garden for tonight's dinner, a casserole with turkey, squash, spaghetti sauce, mozzarella cheese and paremesan cheese, and I put in a sprinkling of red onions and the kale. Everything but the sauce and cheese came from my freezer.

  5. Hope you feel better soon Jeepers hopefully just a bug.

I got half my hardened off transplants planted today- Cosmos, Statice, Sweet Peas mostly. And planted a bunch more seeds- 4 varieties Pumpkin, 2 types of Watermelon, Holy Basil, Culinary basil, Yellow Squash, Pink Banana Squash, Black Beauty Zucchini, Italian Striped Zucchini, Butternut Squash, and I'm forgetting what else but I feel really good about my progress.

  6. So happy for you Littlesister nice to have that wood all done and put your energy elsewhere.

Jeepers hope you find something comfortable to get off your feet while you are canning. Necie's idea to use a camp chair might be perfect since you can fold it up and take it with you. I want to get one of those kitchen stools with the built in stepladders for my kitchen. I think Costco sells them.

Mother thanks for sharing the meaning of the bluebird

My big accomplishment for the day is that the chairs for the basement arrived. My son helped unpack them. My tornado kit is mostly done just need to put the cat supplies downstairs. I have a big tote full of supplies, and a flat of water down there. I also want to put some extra blankets and pillows in a container right by the stairs to grab and bring down, can't keep them down there due to the mildew (old house basement). Feels good to have that in place and know that we  have water, something to eat, light, a weather radio, emergency blankets to stay warm, a place to put the dogs (I put a crate down there), and a place to sit while we wait it out.

  7. Jeepers glad you were able to get it scheduled! Hopefully the social worker can arrange a ride for you.

Miki so glad your DH's appointment went well!

Mommato3boys hopefully work continues to be tolerable for you. December will be here before you know it and then at least you'll have an easier option to stop if you need to.

Littlesister hope you had fun playing in your flower beds!

I went out and did some weeding, and planted my bush beans today. First set of seedlings I'm hardening off on the porch seems happy. I watered them too. Going to start hardening off the next batch Saturday. I saw two volunteer tomato plants in my garden too so going to let them do their thing. Also starting some more seeds this weekend to finish off the plants I want to give a head start. I need to go get straw too to help keep the weeds down. That worked really well last year. Work is picking up so I need to get the garden in before I am tied up more.

  8. Jeepers so glad that got straightened out and I really hope this whole thing is over and done with for you soon. It might be worth hiring someone to help you sort what's left with your back limiting the amount of time you can spend there, or clear it all out and put in a storage unit to come back and deal with as you feel up to it so you can get the house on the market now. It's prime selling season right now you don't want to miss that window. Moving is hard in normal circumstances and worse in your kind of situation. Hopefully this will be a memory soon.

Miki prayers for your husband's Dr visit hope that went well.

I opened the box I thought had just the plum tree I ordered and it turned out to have 2 plum trees, the other 2 pecan trees, and 9 Nanking Cherry Bushes. I had thought I only ordered 3 Nanking Cherry bushes from this company but it was 3 bundles of 3! So I will have 12 total since I had ordered a different variety from another company. Didn't have the energy or time to plant all of them this morning so I planted the 2 pecans, then I dug a hole and put the rest of them in it to keep them alive until the weekend when I can plant properly. I'm going to have a food forest if it's the only thing I can do this year. I only got 3 carrots to come up out of the 3 rows I planted :scratchhead: going to have to work on that. So repurposing that part of the garden for something else. Will pre-sprout my fall carrots and see if I can do better. Started hardening off some of my seedlings yesterday so I can plant them in the garden by the weekend. My porch makes the perfect place to do it since they only get a few hours of sun then the porch shades them. Worked really well last year. DH got the lawn mowed.

My mom is showing some signs of memory issues from her stroke, she doesn't really remember much of what happened the previous day. I thought it was minor like forgetting what she ate for lunch, etc. until the other day when she disagreed with me about something and said she was moving back home to Idaho and couldn't live here.. and then by the evening she was acting like she hadn't said anything and hasn't brought it up since and is talking about future rehab in June here. Her attitude is also pleasant to me now where she was really angry (the disagreement was about something to do with the dishes I was washing and completely irrational). She really doesn't remember the incident at all. So I will just not engage and recognize there is more going on under the surface/healing that needs to happen than it first appeared.

  9. That's a great set up Necie I love the idea of using the outhouse for the grapes. I planted my grape vine on the west side of my garden at the end of my pea trellis

  10. Thanks Midnightmom!  The cannisters are pretty easily available on Amazon and I'm probably more likely to use the propane but I like having options :)

Yes MtRider not fond of snakes either, but my friend has a serious phobia of them, so of course that is what showed up. I seriously have never seen a snake once any time I've gone to a park so it was a surprise and I was very glad we were far enough away that the snake couldn't easily get to us.

Littlesister glad you have all that wood you'll be in great shape next winter.

Jeepers I love watching eagles we had so many in The Dalles on the Columbia I could see them out my window all the time. It was a treat to see them here too.

Today I didn't accomplish much except to go shopping at Walmart. It's my husband's birthday so I baked a cake and that's all I really got done other than laundry

  11. I've been looking at dual fuel butane and propane stoves they seem pretty affordable and can be used inside, so thinking I'll pick one up. I used to have a camping stove but I think I gave it to my SIL before we moved. Also want to pick up some bags of charcoal to store to use outside on our grill. This house came with a grill like the kinds you see at public parks, so I thought that would be good as a backup.

Today I went to a wildlife refuge with my friend about an hour away. We saw eagles and redwing blackbirds, Canada geese, and a water moccasin! Thankfully it stayed away from where we were but that was a surprise.

  12. Always a good idea to provide protection from the critters. I've gotten lucky here but I like the idea of hail protection too. I'm definitely going to need bird netting since my friend likes to feed the birds I doubt I'll get any berries unless I put some up

  13. Yes probably my D levels would go up if I could bare enough skin to get exposure 10-15 min per day without sunscreen. Unfortunately my mom has had skin cancer and I don't really want to go out bare skinned for that long every day and not really possible in the winter...so I just limp along with my level in the low 40s.

Jeepers glad you had a good visit at your Dr. I hope they can get you transportation. Could you take a cab, or Uber or Lyft to the test? Not sure if that is available in your area. There are also medical transport companies sometimes available. Usually for those in wheelchairs but I'm sure they could transport anyone for medical reasons for a fee.

Littlesister have fun making food for the baby. I used to make my kids yogurt and fruit popsicles they loved them.

Today I took my mom to St. Louis to her new cardiology apt which went well. Then we stopped by the Botanical Garden which was incredible, and then out for lunch and ate amazing Mediterranean food which was a real treat. Enjoying this time with my Mom

  14. Littlesister good work on the decluttering/sorting. I hope the treatment helps! It's hard to absorb D3 for me too. I take 5000 IU daily but my Vitamin D level is still low normal...just had my Dr tell me to start taking 5000 IU daily of D3 after my last labs to check my level and I messaged back I'm already taking 5000 IU daily!

Jeepers always fun to discover a new bookstore. I haven't been in one for awhile have been going to the library a lot though

Mt Rider glad you found your book but sorry your walk got cut short!

Mother good tips on the ways to discourage woodpeckers. My mom said she saw one the other day hope they don't decide my house is a good place to stay.

I'm off for the next 4 days. Hoping to do a few errands like get a safe deposit box at the bank and have to make a trip in to St Louis tomorrow to take my mom to an apt.

  15. It will all be ok. Lots of great programs out there to choose from. Definitely check out the link for HSLDA first to find out the requirements for their state. A quick "out of the box" option might be a good idea to just finish out the year while they research how they want to approach it and the curriculum they like. The library is a great place to pick up free books. If they are lucky there may be a homeschooling group or co-op near them. We use Easy Peasy https://allinonehomeschool.com/ which is free and has worked well for us.

  16. Mt Rider so glad you found it! And got things better organized that's a great feeling.

Miki glad Bo is ok with the bath even if he doesn't love it. Amber is still deciding what she thinks about baths.

Jeepers take it slow and steady with the canning don't want you to get hurt. One batch at a time seems like a good plan.

Littlesister sounds like you're making great progress!

Today my gooseberries and currants came so I got those planted. Still waiting on 3 more Nanking cherry bushes, and a plum tree. Planning on getting another one or two in the fall have to slow my roll or I'll be broke :grinning-smiley-044: I'm feeling really happy about how it's all shaping up.

  17. Happy day I planted two pink currant bushes and two red gooseberries today  Getting my fruit in place this year, have 30 more strawberry plants and a plum tree coming. I'll get a few more plum trees in the fall and then I'll be out of room for trees.
