How long pneumonia shots good for?

Got my pneumonia shot yesterday and asked the nurse how long they were good for; I had heard they were good for life and also heard they were only good for 5 years.

She told me they used to be considered good for life but that had changed and now they are only considered good for

5 years.

So, I'm good to 2010. How about you?

I have heard that you are allowed two pneumovax shots in a lifetime, one before 45 and again after that.... don't remember where I heard this though so I'm not sure how reliable the info was.

Still didn't find that quote, but here is a good site I found with some information from the CDC... this makes it sound like you only need one in a lifetime, unless you fit into one of a few categories... anybody else have an opinion on this article.

I noticed the article was dated 7/29/97. Perhaps it hasn't
been updated????
I received my shot at the County Health Clinic. The nurse
there said they were now only good 5 years...used to be once
in your lifetime.
