DBF: "Chicken." pause "Chicken?" pause "CHICKEN! Hold on-I'll let ya talk to her."

 

I said: "That's a heck of a way to answer the phone! SHEESH!"

 

DBF: "It's your mother."

 

Me: "Ooooh."

 

DBF: "Oh yeah-like it all makes sense now?"

 

I take the phone-it's DM on her cell (she's talking a bazillion miles a minute to someone where she's at):

 

Me: "Mom-Mom-MOM! What are you doing? Where ARE you?"

 

DM: "OOOOOH-Necie-you ought to be here. You ought to see this. They're sooo cute. Adorable. Cute, little, fuzzy chirpin' things. Chicks, ducks, geese, turkeys."

 

Me: "Where ARE you?"

 

DM: "At the old Farm and Fleet-Tractor Supply place-whatever-next to the Meijer's store here. THEY HAVE BABY CHICKS! Here, wait, listen....'cheep,cheep,cheep'-those are chicks-'waack,waack,waack'-those are the ducks-'cheep, cheep,cheep'-those are, wait, those are chicks-the first one was...OH-those first ones were baby TURKEYS! hahaha"

 

Me: "hahaha. Mom, ARE YA NUTS!? HAVE YA LOST IT!? What are ya doin'? You're killin' me-you know I want chickens-you're just TEASIN!"
