Cold is much better today, not to much coughing last night. This is day 7 soooo it should be magically gone now. Lots of errands to run today, scheduled work for tomorrow, sure am glad, because it is pouring outside right now. Took Katie's car in yesterday to have windshield replaced, will bite the bullet and pay the $300.00 deductable. She says she will pay me back asap..... Soo what's new? Snowie where are you? I hope you are not getting into trouble all by yourself. Scones were a hit Beb, made a double batch and they were gone very quickly with requests for more. 1 1/2 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons dry mustard ( I used regular dijon because I didn't have the dry stuff), 1/4 cup unsalted butter ( I used margerine) 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, l egg, 1/4 to 1/3 cup of milk. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, mustard, using pastry blender (I used a fork) cut in butter until crumbly, stir in cheese. In another bowl combine egg 1/4 cup of milk and stir into flour misture to make a soft dough, add more milk if you need to. turn dough out on flored surface , knead and then pat dough into an 8 inch circle cut into 8 wedges. Brush with milk Bake until tops are just starting to brown, about 9 to 12 minutes in a 425 oven ( I only put my oven to 375) Excellent right out of the oven topped with butter, or later microwave Hope you like it. DH was home and we were doing some things around here. In afternoon had to take his pick up in to the shop so he took my van to work today. Oh well, don't need to go any place today. It rained all night Thursday night and part of yesterday. But, the sun is shining nice today. Glad that you are feeling much better Brigie. Thanks for the recipe you just put in here. Will have to try it one of these days. I have a newsletter to get out this month and a wedding to go to as well as a few other things. I also HAVE to get going on two quilts that HAVE TO BE DONE before Christmas. The grandsons will be 4 on their next birthday so need to get their quilts done. Beb, you take care of yourself too and hope everything is going good for you. House sale works out ok and the neighbors end up having a new home built after that truck went into it. I printed out the recipe....i think your scones will be my first treat with cheese in it since my surgery....i have still yet to eat fat's....just a habbit.....but i might make an exception with yours. You really should go and post this down in the cooking forum...cuz i'm not sure if alot of people come here to Canada. That recipe looks tooooo goooood not to share! logcabinmama Posted October 6, 2002 Share Posted October 6, 2002 Good morning everyone. You will never guess what is going on now. It is SNOWING outside my window. Yes, I did say snowing. It was raining earlier and just turned to snow about 10 minutes ago. Brigie, you take care of yourself, lots of liquids and keep warm. You don't need to be outside in the weather and catch more. Hope Katie is doing ok now. Is the car fixed? Did her dad help with the bill? Beb, I haven't seen three of the new babies yet, and won't see one for a long times, as they are in MI. There is one in town or close by, but won't see that one either as they don't get together with the rest of the family. I do have pictures of 3 of the 4 and if I could learn how to fix an album on line, I would put the pictures on. Kaye is about the same, she was on line last week when we visited her. She hasn't been to this site yet, as things just take so much time. By the time she looks at some of her e-mail, she is about done in I think. I know she visits on yahoo with several people. She can only use her right hand and has a problem with her sight yet, or I think she does. Movement is slow too now. We were in hopes that this would get her so she would have faster movement in her right hand and maybe somehow she could get a bit of movement in her left. But, no movement in her left. She feels it when you touch her, but just can't move it. She is only 35 and has gone through so much. This was her second stroke. She lost her kidneys with the first stroke, had a transplant and lost that one with this stroke. Therefore, she is on dialysis Tues., Thurs. and Sat. And paralyzed on the left side. Her parents are both gone and her brother comes to see her only once a week. He has a family too. It is his oldest child that had the last gr-gr-niece. Wow, boy, sounds like I am very very old. Well, then, I do hit the 60 mark in Jan. I did put an update on our son in the 'From Within' forum. Well, guess I have talked a lot so better get going. Oh, Do, how are the fish coming? It is raining right now, so my job is on hold for an hour or so, I will wait at least until it gets light outside to see what I am going to do. Katie's car is still in the shop, hopefully will be fixed by Monday Afternoon. No ex will not be putting in half, he pays child support and doesn't have a lot of extra support. I wouldn't even ask him for the money. Katie and I will deal with on our own. If I don't go to work today I have asked my ex to bring his truck and help me get a load of firewood to keep me through the winter. I am down to almost nothing. I am sure that Kaye is happy to have you as a regular visitor, she sounds like she has spirit. In BC we have a place that provides computers for handicap students in the school and at home. A lot of these computers can be adjusted with different controls to compensate for the person's disability, ie, mouth control, voice activated, etc. Have you got anything like that there that could provide her with a better set up? We must look in to this, how's that for bossy? Even if you submited some of your letters to tv shows, like Oprah, requesting help, you never know what could happen. What do you think? Tell me to buzz off if I am out of line. Glad to hear your son is doing a little better, hopefully he will find a job soon, Hey do and Beb where are you this morning, snoozing I think. Goose Liver Posted October 7, 2002 Author Share Posted October 7, 2002 Hey Beb I had a bone scan in the spring and found out that I am pre osteperosis, that's why I take massive amounts of calcium. I also found out that I was in peri menopause. So we are the same. I am taking promitrium right now. It helps regulate my periods and gets rid of the horrible cramps I was having 3 weeks out of the month. It also helps with depression, I was feeling very down and am not a down person, so this really helps me feel normal again. The computer thing Beb and Frosty snow is usually paid for, gratis, free,............ Did anyone see the interview of Larry King last night with Christoper and Dana Reeve? It was a great one about all of the recovery that christopher is experiencing, very hopeful for a lot of people in wheelchairs. Beb, hush your mouth about Christmas, and don't be singing christmas carols, someone will through a tomato at you, oh and don't go out after dark.............. Â THE MOON IS OUT AND YOU MAY START TO HOWL. I have been working on a couple projects, one for this weekend, A Golden Anniversary present and one of the two quilts I HAVE to get done before Christmas this year. Can't be here long today either as I got up late and need to get things done today. Our snow on Sunday lasted about 45 minutes and then quit, but started in and just spit off and on in the morning. 'Jingle Bells' didn't use to be considered a 'Christmas Song' like it is today. When it snowed, you could sing it any time. Wonder why people think it is a 'Christmas song'? Oh well, I like it any time of year. About the week before Thanksgiving, I will start to play Christmas music, or I may wait until the day after Thanksgiving. Depends on how I feel. Hot flashes, I had those for many many years then they stopped and then the dr. gave me that stuff which I only took a short time, because it made me sooooooo moody that I couldn't live with myself, let alone anyone else live with me. So sorry the doctor doesn't want to give you drugs. I just wasn't myself and she (my doctor) said it didn't have to be that way. She is a specialist in women's menopause. The drugs have no side affects and are completely natural ingredients. Hi Snowy, soo busy are you, but i do have a complaint about both of you STOP SINGING CHRISTMAS CAROLS, WE HAVEN'T EVE HAD HALLOWEEN YET. Our thanks giving is this weekend, my mom and dad are having us over for ham and bbq salmon (freshly caught by my dad) Spitty spot, where are you, everywhere but here? It goes on from there 'To Grandmothers house we go, the horse knows the way to carry the slay through the light and driften snow'. Anyway they are on their way to grandma's for Thanksgiving Dinner. Is this a better song to sing, Brigie? It sure seems that I don't get much done these days, on here on in the house. I got my paints out to start painting on the quilt blocks and guess what. Right, they don't all work, so am missing some I need. Now, I have to wait until I either go to town and buy some or order some. Hope your DD is doing ok, Brigie. Beb, I didn't answer your question, did I, my BD is the 9th. Tonight we go see Kaye again, I will tell her 'Hi' from all of you. *Smile*. (I can't use any more of the little smiles here as they only allow so many.) I go get a perm this afternoon so have a busy day ahead of me. Have to have munchies cause DS(21) and their DS(16) are always hungry. Mom called and she was makeing an apple pie at the cabin. She wanted to know if I had a rolling pin up there. One of these years, they won't bother to put it away, just leave it out all year long. The sun did come out for a short time yesterday but was still cool. We have had the heat turned up most of the past two or three weeks now. The trees have lost a lot of the leaves because of the rain and wind the other day, but there is a lot of color left too. Furnace didn't come on last evening or in the night, that I know of. The temp was still 70 this morning inside. Got to get going, lots of things to get done before Sunday. My mom is still going ahead with all of her plans for tomorrow, thanksgiving (holiday is really on Monday) I don't think my brother is going to come after all, needs some down time with his wife and kids, he's been through hell the last few days, and there's still more to come. I am working today, have to leave in a few minutes. Very cold almost a frost, but clear and sunny for today. Perfect day for working, will keep my mind off other things. I am also working on Monday. We have just recently been told that he may have suffered a heart attack sometime within the past few months, as well. Yes, to the hours. I work nights/days and take care of him, every other 24 hours in between. Mountian Mommy and I are sisters for real. At least that's what our mom and dad told us. LOL What was your first clue????
