TheCG
For those of you who'd like to improve your basic skills in the kitchen...Barnes & Noble had James Peterson's Essentials of Cooking in their bargain books for $7-something at my local store. I was already planning on purchasing it as it had been highly recommended to me. LOTS of pictures and descriptions of how to make all sorts of things - pasta dough, broth, how to carve a turkey, prepare a whole fish, etc. It doesn't have many recipes, it's mainly a technique book. (You can still order it off Amazon for a bit more) Link to comment
