Pixie
I made a few batches of pickled garlic and in each jar I put a chilli pepper. I have enough liquid left over as well as some chillies left over, enough to fill the extra jar. So I ctrammed it all in there, topped it off with some vinegar, and popped it in the canner with all the garlic. The lid of that jar and that jar only folded. Is it because the vinegar was cold, and the chilies were cold? The leftover liquid from the garlic was hot as was the jar. Can I re process the chillies even though the lid failed and the canner water got in? I would of course make new liquid and toss the old. I have never seen a lid fail like that! Link to comment
Violet
Normally they crease like that because you tightened it too tightly. The air cannot escape to create a vacuum when they are too tight, so they crease. You could refill with fresh vinegar and reprocess. Link to comment
