susie
I use a bread machine... One and a half cups of hot water, an egg-sized lump of butter or margarine (softened or melted), two heaping tablespoons of sugar, a teaspoon of salt, a cup of bran, a cup of oatmeal, five heaping tablespoons of powdered milk, three heaping tablespoons of instant mashed potato powder, a packet of ready-mix yeast (mixes directly into the flour), and about three cups of whole wheat flour. When the machine begins mixing the dough, gradually add enough flour, spoonful by spoonful, to make a nice stiffish dough that is no longer sticky to the touch...then leave the machine to do the wonderful thing and it will present you with the best of loaves. If you like, you can also add a cup soaked wheatberries to the dough. __________________ Link to comment
