bluegrassmom
I'm making strawberry jalapeno jam today. If half pints are processed at 10 minutes, how long would I process pints?? Link to comment
Violet
The same, 10 min. However, pints are not recommended for jams normally. It is not a safety issue with a full sugar jam, but they do not gel as thickly. If your recipe says half pints, you should not go up in size in jars when canning. You can always use smaller jars, just not larger than called for. For most foods it is a safety issue, though. Link to comment
bluegrassmom
Thanks~~ I did end up doing the half pints. But now I have some "leftovers" in the pot and no more small jars to put it in. Will it freeze, like freezer jam?? What can I do with it? Refrigerate it till I get some more jars? Link to comment
Violet
Any cooked jam recipe is fine to freeze. Link to comment
