TurtleMama
Hi there... The topic of "open fire canning" came up on another thread, and it got me thinking. Obviously, if the SHTF and we go off-grid, we'd need an alternative way to cook. I was wondering if any of our resident canning experts might have any advice on canning over a campfire or on a grill or something that I could put into my prep binder? Thanks so much!!! WormGuy
I bought a turkey cooker just for canning in case the utilities are off for a long time. Two, 100 pound cylinders will go a long way with it. I think one could can on a coal or wood stove but regulating the temprature could be tricky. John Link to comment
ScrubbieLady
Check out her blog. She cans on a wood stove regularly. www.backwoodshome.com/blogs/JackieClay/ You might enjoy a lot of her info. Link to comment
