Amishway Homesteaders
Last night we started off by having pancakes for Supper for __________ Tuesay. ( right now for the life of me I can't think of the name and Lori is at work?). Link to comment
Cat
Isn't it "Fat Tuesday" (when you use up all your fats) and "Ash Wednesday" (when you go to services and have ashes put on your forehead)? We don't do that as part of our religious life. So I can't really relate to it. Link to comment
kappydell
yes, its fat tuesday! use up fats, meats, leavening, etc. exactly what depends.... eastern orthodox give up more than just "meats" on abstinence days- they also have more fasting days than us western folk! I gave up soda (pop) for lent this year, as well as between meal snacking. Im glad im almost so old that im not expected to fast on fast days anymore, it gets harder all the time (big sigh) on the plus side i have a huge meatless recipe & menu collection! Link to comment
