winknasmile
My cousin, who's like a sister, lost her husband to cancer last week. I've been in Des Moines helping her and just got home. DH asked if I wanted to go out for dinner but being gone so long I simply wanted to stay home. So, I said I'll look and see what I can throw together quick. We had stuffed bell peppers, corn, coleslaw and pumpkin bread. He'd picked raspberries this morning so we ate those too on top of vanilla ice cream. He commented on how good a dinner it was and that it was much better than cleaning up to go out to eat. I laughed telling him everything but the ice cream and raspberries were from last fall. His comment after thinking about it.......It was an absolutely delicious free meal. I realized he was right. All of what we had could have been left to rot in the garden last fall but instead, as so many of us here do, we canned/froze/stored it and are still eating on it. Life is good! Quote Link to comment
