I'm not sure which is funnier. The fact that my mother used all of those on me or the fact that I used all of them on my offspring.

I guess we learned horticulture too..."the nut don't fall far from the tree."

my grandma had me afraid of the water for ages, because her favorite thing to say was "you can drown in a teaspoon of water!" -- in hinsight I think she opted for that because she worked the night shift and I kept being drawn to the lake we lived next to, and she wanted to dissuade me from wandering down there while she napped during the day. About 25+ yaers afterward, I caught myself blurting that out when my son got a little too close to the river's edge
