We have a Dehydrator and just bought two bushels of apples. They are Northern Spy, Golden Delicious, Ida Red and Gala. We would appriciate and sugestions on drying Apples and other foods.

The name of the dehydrator is "Harvest Maid" It has a fan and temperature dial that goes to 145 degrees F

Hi and Welcome Jerry Sweet!!

Of all the things i've dehydrated.....apples came out the best....

I peeled them....cut them into 1/4 -1/2 " slices.....cut out the little core with a plastic cap (like a maple or a chocolate syrup cap)....and plop the slices in a bowl with pineapple juice for a little while (not long-the pineapple keeps them from browning and adds a nice flavor)...then fish em out..(it might be best to dab them on a paper towel)...and dip em in a plate of cinnamon sugar......throw em on the racks....and dry away.....set at 135* for around 11 hours.

To test them.....rip em in half and if you see any moisture....do longer.

Have fun......they are real tastey!

We like to put fruit in a blender and liquidfy it. Then we put it in the dehydrator and make our own fruit roll ups.
