    Welcome back!!!!

  2. I have one, and found that if I pull out the tube from the top of the jar sealer, then remove the jar sealer, it will seal the lid. I don't know how well it keeps though, as I haven't checked them since I sealed them, though I should.

The seal keeps very well. I've sealed jars of rice, etc. that still had a good seal 2 years later. I don't have the name brand food saver but I'm happy with its ability to seal jars.

  3. We've been talking. She's not doing well, intense pain, burned and blistered enough they are going to quit the therapy and she's on bed rest. It was the plead in her voice when she said, "Pray for me."

Thank you all for your prayers, she has called several times and said they helped her get through another day.

    *Heavy Sigh*

    Praying for your sister.

  4. Miki I want to thank you for taking the time to let us know that you enjoy the story, along with others here on MrsS. It's comments like yours that keep me writing this story. If yall ever get bored with it, well let us know!

    Thanks and hugs...

The journey you are all on is wonderful! Never boring...I come here first each time to see what's happening. When I first saw the map it was really funny because I really wanted to be there picking out a place...

  5. I'm really enjoying following along with you guys on this trip. Fun reading and a great learning experience to boot!

Couldn't you make one of those dreampots by layering different size pans adding some kind of insulation in between?

And Mt. Rider, can you post how you do the yogurt in the recipe thread? I just got one of those insulated syofoam coolers with a mail order.

  6. Bumping to the top. This thread has a lot of useful information on prepping when there is very little money. We are in that situation right now with my dh going on month number 5 without employment. However, I'm finding that doesn't mean stopping prepping altogether...it means getting as creative as possible to do what needs to be done...

  7. One of my favorite things to do is get up early and take the dog for a walk at the park behind my house before anyone else is up. Sometimes the sky is so blue and the trees look so green they don't look real. Abby is so happy to be running around it just relaxes me to sit in the middle of the grass and watch her play.

I also like sitting in the middle of the garden and look at what's growing (course right now the garden is not looking so good).

Dh and I also like going to the movies together to relax.

And there is this online game I have been known to play when I need to shut down my brain called Poppit.

Luna, those are some pretty spots...

  8. Not exactly how I see myself....although it puts me in the right career....

Artisan™ Portrait of the Composer (ISFP)

More than the other Artisans, Composers are in tune with their senses, and so have a sure grasp of what belongs, and what doesn't belong, in all kinds of works of art. While the other Artisans are skilled with people, tools, and entertainment, Composers have an exceptional ability-seemingly inborn-to work with subtle differences in color, tone, texture, aroma, and flavor.

Although Composers often put long, lonely hours into their artistry, they are just as impulsive as the other Artisans. They do not wait to consider their moves; rather, they act in the here and now, with little or no planning or preparation. Composers are seized by the act of artistic composition, as if caught up in a whirlwind. The act is their master, not the reverse. Composers paint or sculpt, they dance or skate, they write melodies or make recipes-or whatever-simply because they must. They climb the mountain because it is there.

This ability to lose themselves in action accounts for the spectacular individual accomplishments of some Composers, and yet on their social side they show a kindness unmatched by all the other types. Composers are especially sensitive to the pain and suffering of others, and they sympathize freely with the sufferer. Some have a remarkable way with young children, almost as if there were a natural bond of sympathy and trust between them. A similar bond may be seen between some Composers and animals, even wild animals. Many Composers have an instinctive longing for the wilds, and nature seems to welcome them.

Composers are just as plentiful as the other Artisans, say nine or ten per cent of the population, but in general they are very difficult to observe and thus greatly misunderstood. Very likely the difficulty comes from their tendency not to express themselves verbally, but through their works of art. Composers are usually not interested in developing ability in public speaking, or even in the art of conversation; they prefer to feel the pulse of life by touch, in the muscles, in the eyes, in the ears, on the tongue. Make no mistake, Composers are just as interested as other types in sharing their view of the world, and if they find a medium of non-verbal communication-some art form-then they will express their character quite eloquently. If not, they simply remain unknown, their quietness leaving their character all but invisible.

Bob Dylan, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Cher, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Mel Brooks, Steven Spielberg, and Neil Simon are examples of a Composer Artisans.

I'll start off with the frozen peanut butter sandwiches at the grocery store. I don't understand what is so hard about making a pb&j sandwich. It takes a few seconds and requires no special handling. I have to admit I've never tasted one from the store, but I can't see how it could taste better than one I can slap together. I think the small box I saw was over 3$. WOW.

This one gets my vote. They look nasty. First of all frozen bread. :o then frozen peanut butter. I am pretty sure when they are thawed they get mushy... BARF!!!

And Momo you right about the price. For $3 you can buy a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter and get 3 times as many sandwiches and they are fresh, not frozen.

I can tell you about those sandwiches. A year ago the not too bright person in charge of our districts food service decided we weren't capable of spreading the peanut butter on the loaves of bread for snack time for the little ones in my classroom (we're not trained in food service procedures...ya know...wash your hands...use gloves...that sort of thing). They started sending us those individual sandwiches (thawed).

Most of the kidlets don't like them. Some will eat them because they are hungry and there's nothing else to serve them at that time. The bread is like a sponge and the peanut butter doesn't fully soften up and the glob of jelly is just that...a glob of jelly right in the middle of the sandwich.

Fortunately there is another lady who listens when we tell her what the kids don't like and only sends them to us every now and then.
