I have read nearly all of these books, but if I were to want a book on mastering country living, butchering, raising livestock, canning and preserving food for my family I would go with Carla Emery's Encyclopedia of Country Living... Carla's book is the "Homesteaders Bible".

Canadian geese that live here year round are starting to migrate this year.. hmmmmmm
We are expecting our first Nor-easter tonight and tomorrow, thank heavens its not snow.... I told The Giant that I am going to get extra soups and parmalate milk and such in the house incase the winter is bad. Propane tank is filled and we can drag the grill in the house and cook on the side burner if we have to.

Hilly its the memories that count! The joy and the happiness that you and your hubby and guest shared will give you a lifetime of memories... God is good and the vultures..... well, you have them in every group.. just goes with the territory.

My very first crush was Troy Donahue........Oh what a gorgeous man! Then I fell madly in love with Ringo Starr and the thrill of my teenage life was going to Chicago and seeing the Beatles live in concert at Wriggley Field. They also had Sam the Sham and the Pharoughs and Paul Revier and the Raiders there too. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. giggle.

Years ago,in 1978-79, I was living in Black Canyon City, Arizona. I looked out the window of my kitchen and was amazed to see a sea of dried grasses moving across my driveway to my garden area.
The grasses were being carried by ants! They were carryong them to their nest. About 2 weeks later we were hit with what is referred to as a 100 year flood! and 3 weeks after that another flood.
Animals and insects will let you know when bad weather is comming.
