  1. I sure do. It takes me back to playing on my aunt and uncle's farm in the summer when I was a kid. One week my uncle would have all the boy cousins out to the farm and the next week my aunt would have us girl cousins. The rest of the year she rested up. I JUST NOW figured out why the girls came out after the boys...clean up crew from the boys. We had a lot of cookouts and family reunions there too.

I love the smell of new mown (new 'moan' as we used to call it) hay. Then I get weezy and stuffy and sneezy and that's the end of that.

Being a Hoosier it also reminds me of a song:

There's A Little Red Barn On A Farm Down In Indiana.

    1. I was born 'way down in Indiana, Wish that I were there right now. Want to hear my dog bow-wow When I go to milk the cow. Raised on corn 'way down in Indiana, So was ev'ry little hen. I was mighty happy then; Wish that I were back a-gain:

CHORUS: In a little red barn on a farm down in Indiana, Let me lay my back on a stack of new mown hay. 'Round the barnyard where the farmyard folks are pally, Let me dilly-dally all the live-long day. I'm a Hoosier who's blue, thru and thru, and my heart is pining For the sycamore trees where the Wabash breezes play. What's more, I'm pining for a yellow moon that's shining On a little red barn on a farm down Indiana way.

    2. Work was done 'way down in Indiana, Picked the eggs the chickens lay; Pushed the plow and pitched the hay; Ev'ry day a busy day. Had my fun 'way down in Indiana When the sun would go to rest. Saw it sinkin' in the West; That's the time I liked the best.

  2. Tell TurtlePappa the taters are fine. Mine always do that too. As Violet said, just rinse them off. I figured it was starch.

I have not had good luck with canning white beans. Maybe I'll try again this winter when I have more time. All my lids popped. Sigh.

  3. Thanks for sharing your cakes. They look delicious!!! :yum3:

I feel like this is family too and I like to see what other interests we have. And it sounds like making cakes help you to 'survive' in other ways. But now I want a cupcake. Really, really want a cupcake. Chocolate.

  4. It's getting hot here. In the upper 80's but it feels hotter.

I needed some landscaping done and called a guy from a sign I saw up the street. I need a tear out of 4 medium trees, 1 very large tree and one huge pine tree taken out. Plus about 20 old shrubs. I called Thursday and he was here Friday to give an estimate. Now, I have to admit I like to bargain. I learned it when we lived over seas. I also know that cash talks. I figured he would say about $3,000.00. Not really out of line around here and for the size job it will be. I thought I could get it down to about $2,500.00 with cash. He quoted me $1,000.00. We bargained around alittle bit and he said he would do it in 2 weeks for $800.00. :0327: That was Friday and today I woke up to chain saws. They are almost finished! Yaaaah. I should have done it a long time ago.

I won't bargain down quite so much next time though. My D-Ex said I can be a little ruthless. Now I feel kind of bad. My son said they have been in business 24 years so he guessed he knows his business and what things are worth better than I do. But still...

I do have a lot more work that needs done in the very back and I will give it all to him.

  5. Hi and WELCOME!

The Ex thing doesn't sound strange to me. Mine just happends to still be one of best friends. We don't live close geographically and our son is an adult, but we still talk on the phone about every other week. Sure beats the bickering and fighting type of split!

  6. I'm tired just reading it too. But I'll bet you have a great summer.

Arby, Nido is a brand of powdered milk. Kinder = children. So, it's powdered milk for children. I got some at Walmart. It is supposed to be very good. I didn't break into mine yet though. I'm saving it for the big one! LOL

  7. Great video Twilight. Gees, is there anything you can't find online or Youtube these days. We must have been really stupid back in the old days....speaking for myself there.

Most of my crud was from liquid fabric softener. It looked just like what she was dealing with plus all under the rubber flange, that circles the tub, was caked and gummy. I had to use a screwdriver then a small putty knife to get rid of it.

Instead of pipe cleaners one of those small sink snakes would work good too and be longer and less flexible.

I've heard a lot to people say their front load washer smells bad all the time.

  8. UGH. Wonder if that has anything to do with your itching? It would be nice if that was behind it all.

I remember being disgusted when I ran my hand under the rubber flange thing that goes around top of the inside of the washer. Most of it was dried on fabric softener, before I switched to dryer sheets. :0327:

Makes me wonder if my next washer should be a front loader without an agitator?

  9. Mt. Rider, your book list is tied into your Amazon account. Go to Amazon, manage my Kindle account, put in your password and your book list will show up.

So, it's tied into your Amazon account via your Amazon password. As long as you have your Amazon account password, you can access them from any computer.

I really needed to jump in with that info because I am so tech illiterate it isn't often I have an answer.

Hope I get this posted before anyone else hits the 'add reply' button. I'm not even going to proof read this.

P.S. Windmorn is a whizz when it comes to this stuff. She also finds the coolest things on line.

10. Funny we are talking about this and Amazon just updated the Touch. Electronically that is. So now it look just a wee bit different but they added; landscape mode, language support where you can load 6 new foreign language dictionaries, enhanced table of contents, highlighting across the page, Wikipedia look up with just a tap, instant translations, sharing options, onscreen keyboard suggestions and text-to-speech summaries. Whew, all of that while I was asleep!

The only thing I wish it did (other than clean my house) is to let you have a folder inside a folder like on the computer. They asked for suggestions and I'm going to email them that. Maybe if enough people do...

I go to the Amazon website to delete unwanted books. It took me forever to figure out how to get rid of a book. They stayed in Archives and wouldn't go away.

I downloaded a lot of the classics too. Most I haven't read and some I read and forgot about. I got the Willa Cather books and read My Antonia and loved it.
