  1. Thanks for the invite! I'm always up for a party . . . especially to celebrate how loved Cat is!
  2. If you get the chance, be sure to watch tonight's episode of CSI:Miami on CBS. Our DD has a big part in it. Her character's name is Peg Donovan.
  3. No, the alcohol dissipates. Here's the recipe I use: brandied fruit 1 cup canned peaches, cherries, pears, or pineapple, drained 1 cup sugar Add 1 cup fruit and 1 cup sugar every two weeks. Sitr with wooden spoon every few days. Needs no refrigeration. brandied fruit cake 1 cup butter, melted 1 3/4 cup sugar 2 eggs 3 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp cloves 1/4 tsp allspice 2 cups brandied fruit 1 cups pecans, chopped Mix butter, sugar, and eggs. Sift dry ingredients and add to butter mixture. Add fruit, then nuts. Mix well after adding each ingredient. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour Remove from pan at once. Wrap in foil while hot. Freeze for 2 weeks before serving.

    I'm OK

Oh my, that had to be tough to endure. Glad you're on the mend, Frannie!
  5. It's a glorious day here in Nashville. Did you know we've had more rain this spring than we've had in 112 years????? Well, with summer upon us it's finally feeling a bit more "normal". My gardens are blooming like gangbusters, too. What are your plans for the weekend? I think we're doing a yard sale. I also have to do another walk-through on a real estate investment property we're buying. Hope your weekend is GRAND!
  6. How wonderful. You were very fortunate to have that experience!
  7. Great article, Ginger. I'm going to copy this and share with our board. Thanks!
  8. After seeing your photos, no wonder you won awards! Awesome!
  9. Wow -- what veggies are you growing, lowie? How long have you been gardening?
  10. Oh goodie -- I love garden pictures. Headed to look now . . .
  11. I think it's an excellent idea. Would the 2 of you be able to work as a team? I'm asking simply because some folks are more comfortable with women cleaning their homes. Is he a good handyman? He could also be a "Husband for Hire". I remember a guy that put up signs that said exactly that and he created quite a business for himself -- doing minor odd jobs around the house for women who didn't have a man around.
  12. Here ya go: Meatloaf to Die For Mix together: 2 pounds ground beef 1 egg crumbs from 2 slices fresh white bread (grind in blender) half a large bell pepper, diced 4 large raw carrots, grated milk (2% or skim okay) V8 juice Worcestershire sauce salt and pepper Notice that this doesn't call for onion (for those who don't like it) but you can add it if desired; and with the liquids, you have to estimate it so you have about an equal amount of each and enough to moisten the mixture but not make it sloppy wet. Pack this into a loaf pan and bake it at 350F for about an hour. Scrub and fork stab potatoes and throw them in at the same time and in an hour you have a complete meal. Serve this with ketchup. And if you can find hot ketchup at the store, men go nuts over it on big slabs of this meatloaf... (from Kay) PS -- I definitely add onions and a few other goodies.
  13. Dittos, you can say that again. It's great to get objective viewpoints, especially because our online friends don't know the individuals of whom we speak.
  14. Thanks for the response, Darlene. I surely can understand that. Wish they would pop in now and again. I think of Kay every time I make her "Meatloaf to Die for".
  15. That's super smart to test your plants like that. I'll definitely keep that in mind. I've got our main webpage -- EdenSong and the board EdenSong Community. Everyone is welcome to come visit!
  16. Cat's right . . . a scouring pad and some "elbow grease" would eventually get it clean. Here's a link to a product that is specifically for cast iron rust removal: Cast Iron Rust Remover
  17. Too cute . . . out of the mouth of babes . . .
  18. Mexico, really? How cool! I've wanted to travel around Mexico for some time. Where did you live? Why would you be moving . . . and where would you be going?
  19. Just wondering . . . I don't see any current posts from Kay and a few olther "oldbies". Is she still around? Who else has disappeared and why, if I may ask?
