  1. Yeah, the Dairy Queen where I worked shut down. Nobody could get out, anyway, but who would want ice cream in that awful weather? :o The next summer I got a better job.

We couldn't even move around town very easily. Luckily we still were canning at home and had food to eat. Trucks couldn't get to the stores to deliver.

  2. Yeah, the weather people are saying that the early patterns kind of look like the patterns of that blizzard that hit in 1978 here. I sure hope that they are wrong. :o

It was so nice & warm yesterday, and this morning I looked out and I thought we had heavy fog. NOPE! Snow. :shakinghead: We have just a little on the ground, so it's not horrible. Yet.

  3. I just want to say thank you to all of you, and offer a great big group hug. :grouphug:

This past election season was brutal, and filled with all kinds of crazy.

But I was glad to see that we, as a group, did not get sucked into the dirt. At least here we seemed to be careful and didn't open that box, at least not often, or much.

Part of it is that most of us are more quiet here, of course. But I've seen a lot here over the many years.

    I love you all.

  4. We get some of this feeling every autumn, and some more every election year. But this year it feels different. Everyone I've spoken to agrees with that. Different, and not in a good way.

Exactly. It just feels like "something wicked this way comes". :behindsofa:

When it feels like too much for me, I start praying. Again. For everyone I know, for those I don't, for our country, for the world.

  5. Are you really ready?

Do you have what it takes if your electricity goes out?

Gasoline isn't available or your car won't go?

No way to get to the store for food, and maybe if you got there, it was mostly gone?

Do you have medicines and first aid supplies?

Do you know what you can do or where to go if people start raiding your neighborhood for stuff?

Rumbles of unrest and ominous warnings are rippling across the internet.

No, I don't believe it's all gonna be true.

But what if something does happen?

Even our government says to have preps, these days.

Look around your home, then look around here for ideas and help and support.

    :grouphug:

And pray, if you do that. I know God's got this, but we need to band together and pray for our world.

  6. Good news. :)

I have Bradycardia (slow heartbeat) and my cardiologist tells me that I will eventually need a pacemaker. :( Not really looking forward to that idea at all. Hoping that weight loss will change that. I have lost 70 lbs thus far, but that only puts me back to where I was 3 years ago before I started taking insulin. Still have quite a bit to lose, but I hope it will make a difference.

Don't give up, my friend. Stay strong, and you continue to be in my prayers. :hug3:

  7. Wondering if your move will bring you my way enough to meet for a coffee????? Hey, ya GOTTA eat!

PM me, if you want. :)

I don't think a Daddy is ever "ready" for the way a daughter works her way into his heart.

They somehow think that maybe watching their own little girl from day one will help them to FINALLY figure out the mysteries of the female mind and behavior. And they soon realize that it will forever remain a mystery. :24:
