I got the annual home insurance bill. I had prepared myself for a large increase like the last two years. I couldn't believe my eyes when it had stayed the same!!! I am relieved..at least until next year.

I am sorry to hear you are having these problems. Maybe you'll feel better soon!

You'll get there again Snowy!
I have been real good on my diet. I don't know if I lost much weight yet but I am using alot less insulin. I'm gonna weigh in tomorrow. It will be 2 full weeks of low carbs then.

DH was at the doctors yesterday and I asked the Dr. if he could substitute aspirin for his blood thinner. About a year ago he really needed something stronger to thin his blood. Now that his blood counts were better, the Dr. said we could switch back to aspirin. Dr's don't always review your meds..face it , they are busy and the 20$ a month saved isn't much to them.
Keep track of all your meds and the reason you are taking them. Things change and new generics become available.

Very interesting. I wonder if it saved money?

In many states this is the sales tax free shopping holiday for back to school.
BTW, in Alabama disposable diapers are tax free this weekend!

Kelly Clarkson was on last week for the first of the new series. It turned out her 3 times great grandfather was a civil war soldier, a prisoner at Andersonville and a state senator. She had no idea until they did the research.

I too am curious about this. Please give us a report on how your experiment went.

I love TracFone. I've had mine for 5 years now. It was a cheap (10$) phone that does more than I need it to and it's done great for 5 years..not even needed to replace a battery yet. It is easy to do set up even for someone who is not a technology weinie like me!

Who Do You Think You Are is back on tv. It is now on The Learning Channel Tuesdays at 8 pm central time.

You have my sympathies. It is very frustrating to use a wheelchair. DH is not in very good shape either and I hate to admit that I outweigh him!! He has quite a job pushing me around.

Despite re-evaluating coverages at least every year it is just getting harder and harder for me to keep the premiums reasonable. Has anyone here found any good ideas to help cut costs on their home insurance?
My deductible is already pretty high so I can' t do that again. We haven't ever had a claim either. Grrr....

One of our grocery stores has had chicken breasts (with the bone in) on sale for 1$ a pound. I have cooked, canned and prepped chicken until I am nearly ready to cluck!

I know it's hot as blazes outside, but don't forget those housework miles can add up. Has anyone been running laps indoors?

The latest rumor about high speed internet around here is this August. I have been hearing for nearly 2 years that we would be getting AT&t U-Verse or fiber optic from the Electric Co-op.
Right now my only choice is to use the tv cable people which is notorious for it's expensive intermittent service. I will be glad to finally have service. This free wi-fi dance I have been doing for 2 years is getting old.

I am sorry to hear you hurt your back. I'm glad it wasn't any permanent damage.
Dh hurt his last week while lifting my wheelchair into the car. He is on the mend too. We just can't take our health for granted.

The annual free Icee will be available on July 11th at 7-11 stores.
That's also Princess Jr.'s birthday which makes it easy to remember.

I would estimate that I find between a third and a half of my family graves at this site.

Would you believe I found a pedometer for $1? Now I have to wear it and walk some more!

It is a good idea to check your prescriptions at least once a year. When doing my most recent check I saw Dh was taking an ER (extended release) blood pressure med. Even though it was generic it was still pricey on our limited budget. When DH went to the Dr last week I asked him if we could use the regular blood pressure pill and take it twice a day instead of the ER version. He said it would be fine. Our monthly cost went from $28 to $2.

It sounds like a slow week for the walkers. But you are both still way ahead of me!

Oh my gosh...it could have been so bad for you and Old Pine. I am thankful you are ok.

This past weeks was pretty good. Chris O'Donnell had relatives who fought in the Mexican War and the War of 1812. The ancestor one in 1812 (his 4 times great grandfather) was actually present at the battle where Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the Star Spangled Banner. Pretty cool.
