  1. If you want to save money and avoid all those nasty chemicals try cleaning your hair this way.

Make a paste of baking soda and water. Massage into your scalp. Rinse with apple cider vinegar and water. It takes a while for your hair to adjust to being chem free, so give it some time.

I haven't tried this yet but I'm going to start tomorrow morning!

  2. Recycle worms..

If you have worms left after fishing, don't toss them out. You can put them in your fridge and they kind of "sleep". You can save them for 7-10 days. If you won't be fishing again soon, put them(and the dirt with them) in your compost bin or feed to your chickens.

  3. My step daughter lives on pot pies. The really cheap brand that starts with a B. She eats 2 a day and that's it. No wonder she's sooo skinny!!

I read a description in a magazine about the contents of a frozen pot pie. They measured out all the ingredients and I had to giggle when they said it contained about 2 peas and some chicken "debris". LOL

JCK88 DH is growing upside down maters in our empty cat litter tubs. Not only that..he is growing herbs in the tops of the buckets so they are green at both ends!

  4. The Princesses bought those glass automatic plant waterers for DH's birthday last week. They were sweet to think of making his job easier. The box says it waters plants for up to 2 weeks I think. Anyway, they are empty in 1 day so it is actually MORE work for DH. We don't have the heart to tell them though!

2 of them were about $10 at Wal Mart.

  5. The grocery store I go to most often has boiled eggs in the deli. They want 69 cents for 1 egg!! Or $1.69 for 3 eggs! That's pretty steep.

I noticed those frozen crock pot meals. They were pretty expensive. I think microwave meals would be cheaper and faster. I couldn't figure it out..crock cooking is so easy.

I can understand some convenience items for special situations..but some of these things are really out there.

Another new item is a wipe for every purpose. Furniture polish wipes, car cleaning wipes, baby wipes, glass wipes etc. Someone must be making alot of money coming up with all these wipes or they wouldn't do it. Not to say they are all silly but I think it's been overdone.

  6. What do you nominate for the dumbest, laziest, stupidist products invented? There are so many to choose from.

I'll start off with the frozen peanut butter sandwiches at the grocery store. I don't understand what is so hard about making a pb&j sandwich. It takes a few seconds and requires no special handling. I have to admit I've never tasted one from the store, but I can't see how it could taste better than one I can slap together. I think the small box I saw was over 3$. WOW.

  7. We have one of those metal decorative 7 ft tall windmills. The top has broken and is not fixable. DH was going to throw it out. Then I had a brainstorm..use the 6 ft. metal part as a tall trellis for our veggie garden. He didn't even tease me about it so it must be a good idea!

  8. Make your own starter pots for seedlings.

Take a piece of newspaper and fold it in half lengthwise. Next roll it around a can or a glass to make a pot shape. Slide out the can/glass center and fold the remaining paper at the bottom to make a flat end. Add soil and seeds. When the seedling is ready for transplanting outdoors, plant in the garden leaving in the paper pot.

Save plastic cups from beverages at stores (such as 7-11 or fast food). These make great protective tents when a late frost is threatening your seedlings. They act like mini-greenhouses. Remember to remove the cup as soon as it is warm enough or you will scorch the plants.

  9. I have a very nice dutch oven type pot. It is stainless steel and about 40 years old. The phenolic handle just disintegrated and can't be repaired. As I started to throw it out I realized it would make a great dog food dish for my outdoor German shepherd. It is sturdy, heavy and won't rust. Greta seems to like it.

  10. If you have some thing due at the library and don't want to make a special trip or spend the needed time to go in personally...see if your library allows you to renew online or over the phone. You avoid late fees and save time. Our library does, and it sure is a nice convenience.

  11. Staceyy..while you are waiting to get your log roller..you can roll your newspaper and secure in a tuna can (with both ends removed). After you burn the paper log, remove the cooled down can and throw it out.

If you have rabbits or know someone who does, save your pinecones for them. Rabbits love to gnaw on the cones.
