  7. I want to wish everyone a good year in 2004. Hugs. ladyc
  8. I just ran across this. It's been a while, but I once had a brandied fruit jar going for a long time. I want to get one started again. It's easy and soooo good on vanilla ice cream. http://vabutter.tripod.com/ginnysrecipes/id22.html
  9. An email message received from friends who attended a conference in Hawaii... On April 1 at 11 AM Washington, DC time, people all over the world will focus their prayers of peace on George Bush, Saddam Hussein and the leaders of all the countries of the world. The plea for prayer came from the Children who gathered on the Big Island of Hawaii last weekend for the "Psychic Children Speak to the World" conference. Now they have asked that we expand the vigil to include all world leaders, especially those who are most involved in the current war in Iraq. They believe that offering our prayers of peace will actually inspire them to make their decisions based upon the good of all. Wherever you are at that time, please stop and join the world in prayer. We believe that millions of people will participate, adding their energy to this essential movement.
  10. The fabric shops are currently well stocked with polar fleece. I think it runs between 50 and 60 inches wide. This might be something to consider for a quick window quilt. Just cut it to the length you want and sew a casing at the top or cut "buttonhole" slits at the top and slide a rod through. Oh, and here's something that worked several years ago for a north window with a casing 4 or 5 inches deep. I had a loose-weave curtain on a tension rod just inside the opening. In the winter I used a second curtain , also loose weave, halfway between the outside curtain and the window. It was an effective arrangement because the fabric was enought to trap air layers as insulation without trapping moisture and blocking outside light entirely. You could feel the different temperatures of the air layers Fleece might be more effective for both layers. Not sure how much light would be blocked.
  11. Ramen noodles, seasoning and other ingredients were mixed ahead and refrigerated till serving time. The time that Homey and DH were in the Philipines or somewhere would be a date clue. I think it may have been when the board was being redone. If Homey is still in touch, she may have the recipe or know where or when it was posted. Thanks
  12. I'm looking for no cook recipes for raman like we posted for Homey.
  13. MM, I registered there but can't log in
  14. Thanks, Cat, I needed that. I smiled, DH smiled, and so did everyone I sent it to. ...still smiling...
  15. Cat, I hope we can visit on ICQ again, too. More than one computer and some ISPs have "gone under the bridge" since we last talked. I hope to get ICQ going again. Um, we're connected. Now if we can just find each other on line at the same time. Hugs, C [This message has been edited by ladyc (edited December 24, 2002).] [This message has been edited by ladyc (edited December 28, 2002).]
  16. Hey Westbrook...that site is well worth looking at...I go there a lot and always enjoy!
  17. Ornaments carry happy memories that come to mind as we decorate for the holidays. I stopped to look at mine today in the midst of busy activities with Christmas music playing in the background. Several are special because they are from the MrsS Y2K exchange. I thought about each of you who sent one that year, and the time and effort that went into each ornament. Each one is a delight. I want you to know that I treasure them, and they reminded me to wish Christmas blessings, health, and joy to all at MrsS. Hugs, ladyc
  18. Although I had not met Ed and Peg personally, I thought of them as friends through their posts at MrsS. As moderator, Ed made a contribution we all appreciated, and he will be missed by everyone.
  19. Reci, what size can? Also, can the package of imitation crab meat be substituted? I think it's 8 ounces. BTW,years ago Furrs Cafeteria had develed crab. (baked, I think) It was my favorite, and I've been trying to imitate that dish ever since.
  20. I went to this site and almost couldn't leave. Lots of ideas and inspiration.
  21. I found a curry plant a year ago, and it is now part of my permanent herb garden. I thought curry was a combination of spices until I found the plant. This reminded me of a recipe I had made several years ago. Pork chops with curry and cream of asparagus soup. Don't know why another cream soup wouldn't do. Don't know if cream of asparagus soup is even available anymore. **flipping throught the recipe file**
  22. A search for Hobbs Quilting on Ask Jeeves resulted in this discussion of quilt batts, including wool. There is an excellent discussion of the characteristics of different fibers and brands with both hand and machine quilting and laundry and drying results. http://www.quiltersbee.com/qbfabtip.htm A search for Fairfield Quilting also resulted in several quilt sites. Hope you find how to make your own wool batt.
  23. I noticed Sam's had a big display of your book when I was there a few days ago. I'll take time to look at it next time.
