To ease up on the bandwith usage of MrsS, click on the "YouTube" logo on the bottom right of the video and watch it there instead of here. That way you will also be able to continue browsing and reading here also.

Violet - would pre-boiling the ham before processing it get rid of the sugars that turn red/brown during the canning?
I was in Winco today and they had butt portions of ham for $ .98/lb so I bought one.

I am so happy to find out that I am not the only one who thought the discussion was going to be about sewers, not sewing!!!
I was all ready to discuss the problems the enviornmentaly mandated low-flow toilets are causing in San Fran - the "City by the Bay," or what would happen to people who live in an apt, or someone who doesn't have a back-flow trap installed on their sewer line would be facing.
However, since this is actually about sewing, I don't have a thing to contribute since I'm not a sewer!!! (or a seamstress)

Welcome Pearl. Look forward to seeing you around the forums!

Oh! You're talking about a real cat.............as in feline. I thought you were talking about our Cat.....................as in Cathy!!! I was wondering what she was doing at your house.

I usually wash the jars after processing too. And I thought about the rust issue. But they seem to stack better (more stability) if the rings are left on. Guess I'll go back and remove them. Thanks.
-
Let me interrupt and ask a question. Do you leave the screw rings on your canned goods after processing and when putting them in storage???

Little John the Baptist
Johnny's Mother looked out the window and
noticed him "playing church" with their cat.
He had the cat sitting quietly and he was preaching to it.
She smiled and went about her work.
~~~~~~~
A while later she heard loud meowing and hissing
and ran back To the open window to see
Johnny baptizing the cat in a tub of water.
She called out, "Johnny, stop that!
The cat is afraid of water!"
Johnny looked up at her and said,
"He should have thought about that
before he joined my church."
I must admit, I've never thought of Darwin's Theory of Evolution in quite this way. It makes a whole lot of sense. Thought I would share it with fellow h-schoolers so you can pass it on to your children.
Critical thinking is soooooooooooooooo impt, isn't it?
The main point of Darwinism is not the idea of evolution. That idea long preceded Darwinism. It goes back to classical Greece. The main point of Darwinism is to promote the idea of purposeless life prior to the advent of man. It promotes the idea that all life came out of a purposeless universe, and until the advent of man, there was no purpose in the universe.The main motivation of Darwinists has always been to elevate man as a replacement of God. What God is not allowed to do, namely, shape history, including cosmic history, in terms of His purposes, man is now said to be able to do, and therefore he has a responsibility to do it. It is the elevation of man as the new God that is the essence of Darwinism, not the doctrine of evolution. This is why Darwinism is a religion.
If not back in the dehydrator, try using your hair dryer to heat up the dried food a little so it loosens its grip on the wax paper. Its paraffin wax so you might have success.
Thanks nerd. Will give that a try!
I imagine this is how it was first performed--an all male choir with the soprano parts being sung by prepubesent boys. It is a wonderful presentation. Enjoy!
