  1. Good morning again Woodchuck. Sure is nice to see you again. smile.gif

Well, I didn't intend to do that, just forgot the url. But then again, it was a build up, wasn't it. wink.gifsmile.gif

Hope the url helped you get started again. smile.gif

Also, it gave me a couple extra posts too. smile.gif MM is wanting me to try and catch up with her in posting. grin.gif So, I have really been trying hard. smile.gif

  2. Well, whatever it was, he left things alone last night. I think the pepper in the food has been the answer. smile.gif

We don't have possiums up this far north so knew it wasn't one of them. smile.gif We new it couldn't have been a mouse though, as whatever it was, it had eaten about 3 cups of seeds the first time it had cleaned the feeder out. It also had eaten about 1/2 cup of jelly. DH said it couldn't have been an owl, as whatever it was it had lifted a wood top form the feeder and taken the feeder from the iron post we had it on. smile.gif He really feels it was a racoon.

Anyway, no problems last night so maybe we have solved the problem. We will have to see what happens these next few nights to make sure though. smile.gif

  3. Just being able to be outside for a day. With all the humidity and it being so hot, I haven't been able to stand it outside.

But, yesterday, it was sooooo nice, I was able to spend the day outside. We planted trees, bushes and mowed. Had the windows and doors open in the house too. smile.gif

Now this morning it is down to 45, but the humidity is way up there again. So, may not be able to be outside today. frown.gif

  4. Yes.!!! It has cooled way down. It was in the low to mid 70's and humidity waaaayyy down. I could breath outside. grin.gif

Right now, the temp is about 45 and humidity is way up there again. frown.gif But, we still need rain. Had about a 2 minute rain on Sunday and before that we had had just a small rain during the past week. Not enough to do any good though.

Yesterday, it was soooooo nice out that I spent the day outside. I mowed while DH planted a tree and some other things, then we went to town and did some shopping. After lunch, we planted 5 more trees and 4 bushed that we had gotten in June. So had a nice day and lots of fresh air. smile.gif

Had all the doors and windows open too, so aired the house out. After almost a month without being about to open the windows and doors, it sure was nice. smile.gif

    How is your weather?

  6. If you are just beginning, first off you will want to copy some of the charts that I posted in a different post. Then fill them out with the information you know. Start off with yourself, then your parents and work back. smile.gif

    Hope this helps.

  7. Another Emazing Genealogy Tip of The Day.:

Create a Font Comparison Chart for Yourself

If you are working with documents with old handwriting, sometimes a visual comparison chart can help you decipher the old handwriting. One way to create a homemade version of such a chart is to open your word processor, and type every letter of the alphabet in upper case, every letter in

the lower case, and every numeral, separated with one or two spaces. Set your font size at 14 or 16 points. Then,

copy and past your creation multiple times on the page.

Next, select one block of the characters and make changes to the font face, using samples that are similar to the

handwriting you are trying to read. Script, Brushscript, Breidopf Fraktur, Gaelic, Matura, Mistral, and others can provide a visual example with which to compare your

    document.

Hope someone can use this information. smile.gif

  9. This information came in my e-mail, it is from 'Emazing Tip of The Day'.

    WPA Soundexing Projects

The Work Progress Administration was established in 1935 and renamed the Work Projects Administration in 1939. This

Federal agency's goal was to provide jobs for the unemployed during the Great Depression. One of the most

important projects with long-term value to genealogists was the creation of Soundex indexes to both census schedules and immigration records. The Soundex cards created by the WPA for census records have been microfilmed by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). For

more information about the WPA Soundex projects, visit the NARA Web site.

I will try that, if you see the picture, you know it did, it you don't see the picture, you know I still didn't get it right. frown.gif

  13. For the past several nights, at least a week, we have had a visitor in the night. With the A/C running, the dogs don't hear anything outside. frown.gif

This visitor has been getting into the bird feeders and cleaning them out. We have several feeders and different kinds. We have 'Jelly' feeders for some birds, and they clean the jelly out as well as the sunflower feeders for the Goldfinches and other birds.

We have put hot pepper in some of the feeders and that seems to make a bit of difference. Now, we are just wondering what animal it is that is doing this thing. The only things we can come up with is a racoon. Do any of you have any idea?

  14. You welcome, Lois, glad I posted this. smile.gif

You know more about knitting than I do. smile.gif I have only tryed to do a pr. of socks and that was sooo long ago, I wouldn't know where to begin now. frown.gif Who knows, maybe I will try that this winter if I get other things done that I need to. smile.gif

  15. Ok, just how well did we all do?

I know I sure didn't get many in, it has been so hot and the humidity has been up there too. I just don't get much done on those days.

Therefore, I only have 6 miles in for last week.

    Next???

  16. You are right there, Goosie. MM seems to be on a real roll, and I don't think I can type as fast as she can either. wink.gif

Of course, you saw those pictures she posted, so she got about 6 or 7 posts right there. smile.gif

Just give me a few days and when she least expects it. I will be in the lead. wink.gif
