  1. As for me I managed to sleep til 6am today. This is an improvement. Today, got advice on plumbing issues, drain pipes. Supposed to get some of P's dross cleared up again but the handy man who said he would be hear to clear stuff about 2 hours ago never showed. He can get a talkin to if he shows up after dark. I don't want him showing up after dark when I live alone. Besides, this is not going to help my own routine once I get one again! I am already frustrated.

It's understood and accepted that I am frustrated. Hopefully the drains will all be fixed come Friday. The wall cracks in the interior walls are being patched correctly. I am learning how. The guy that does this is the hubby to a woman veteran who advocates for veterans here. He has restored and flipped houses for about 40 years , spent much time in Colorado and is really cool and knows his stuff, very kind man. He did great work helping his wife regain her ability to walk , Mt. Rider. Does body work, eastern medicine practices, put the VA here to shame, and some of that she is straightening out! They even go help veterans in the Northeast at times. He had very good, logical thoughts about the drain pipes going from kitchen and bathtub... I think more digging and pipe replacement might be in order or hours of snake work... you oughtta see the tree roots that were growing in the old sewer pipe! Its close enough it probably invaded the kitchen and tub drain pipes. The drop in level of the pipes is good ( checked in the basement, ) so ..... Friday I hope all that is done up right and the plumber not the handyman is going to also install the washer and dryer... which I trust more. I just think he is really busy maybe. ( 40 year old Maple trees can do a number on piping.)

It might be next week..... he better be back Monday if he isn't done on Friday. IM not waiting another darn week to get a shower !

Got my wee sewing machine, thread and stuff so I can make some quick curtains out of some new sheets, and my knee socks yarn I ordered. So I did a bit of yarn therapy just now , rolling 3 skeins into balls. Clover Colors , Patons Kroy Sock Yarn. Now I can knit some knee socks for winters socks while I wait on all this to be done as I putter with settling other things and re-do my bedroom windows coverings. If I can also redo the kitchen and bathroom window out of the material I have , it will be more appropriate coverings. The curtain work, clearing dirt that settled in low spots on the old driveway and cleaning up extraneous leaves in the back yard and side yard will keep me busy the next couple days and is an improvement so that's good for this place!

A little knitting won't hurt either. I need more knee socks anyway. The yarn is rather pretty too.

  2. Euph, good luck and take good care of yourself, everyone does this weight loss differently when they do it, I was fortunate my method worked for me. Affording it was the most difficult part and not being able to at least grow my own veggies.

I just moved to the midwest and have lots of yard area to grow veggies and my own heirloom garlic and such things. I am grateful for that though the house needed work!

I have lived in lousy apartments with bad window light for too long so I am enjoying seeking out current garden information again and planning things out.

  3. Hon, the diabetes is there, you just dont eat enough carbs to raise your blood sugar up very high since you had the surgery and it tightens the amount of capacity for food. All you are doing is controlling the blood sugar level, the diabetes disease remains, however.

I have type 2, my mother had type 1 all her adult life. I also am diet controlled. I went paleo with dairy diet. It works fine. for me.

  4. Even as I slowly sort out things and watch slow progress on some major house repairs being done, I did find time yesterday to go for a short walk and got a few things I needed at the store.

Today, I walked a lot further. Currently I am so out of shape my muscles are really atrophied and weak and it took 25 minutes slow walking just to loosen up some! 5 more minutes and I got to the store and hardware store I needed to go to.... and I remembered my electric outlet adaptors and found out they do sell guys jeans, Lee brand at the hardware store and carhardts or something like it at least. Which is good. I needed more jeans , and they do have deeper pockets! So I bought a pair.

My fibro has wreaked havoc on my muscles and tendons and the connections they make into joints and bones, and so has the fatigue levels of my chronic fatigue.

Well, I will see what I can do.

Fortunately it has still been very warm.

Maybe by the time it starts to really chill out here I will have found more of my winter clothes, ha! They are in a box somewhere! ( Just got my moved goods delivered.)

Walking to tone up for now seems a good idea. Nothing fast and furious. It is also relaxing.

Whatever level you are at, who is joining me in this stuff, personal stamina improvement and some strength building?

  5. post-63323-0-51616700-1478820924_thumb.jpgThe oven burner was replaced properly yesterday on the stove.

    The water heater was replaced.

The drain situation has been ongoing work.

Today the line to the sewer in the back alley was dug out... all the line needs replacing.... its been in for decades. I got to see what tree roots do.

    Sorry the photo is sideways.

  6. Household goods delivered. :sigh::scratchhead::faint3: Drains after snaking inside and out not doing well yet.... muric acid dumped in sewer line. Evidently house was not occupied for 3 years... ugh. Tree roots.

I am thinking outside line will have to be dug up and replaced, city has checked yard for stuff to watch for while digging. I think. I saw the truck but movers were bringing stuff in and its raining too ( hurrah. its been too dry) .... water heater is paid for but Plumber hasnt had time to put it in yet but the boiler for heat does work !

Gas company man has to come back with new part for oven... la la la la....... movers were here.... in the way.... going through kitchen....

I sure hope my .22 cal nitron piston or whateveh ya call that mechanism type of rifle is in one of my tall boxes and my archery gear....... twits left the back pack out soaking in rain.... need to go empty it out so it all can dry..... ugh..... bout it...... going to listen to election news.......... which I really wonder how it will turn out and what happens as a result!

  7. My son enjoyed seeing the fall colors in upstate NY and PA, the midwest is starting more to turn, some is maxed. I have a zillion leaves to rake up soon. They were not bothering with the yard but I can have 3 good garden patches~

  8. I made it to my destination. It is a work in progress to get it straightened out,but now I lost my map of the wee town! But hey meat packed in Grand Island is sold here. Prices are better!

Tomorrow more work will be done.

Well, now I know why the carpet had to be pulled up. The last tenants left 8 mos. ago. Yikes, their poor cat who was probably pretty maine coon mix.. starved or got nailed by someone sitting on the couch! Sad end to a pretty cat... we found it allright.... ewwww.

So much for the living room carpet!

There was an unsecured internet connection nearby so I am using it tonight. Don't know if it will last... lol. Have no idea where the map is either !

  9. Found out something cool about DGS's great grandma, Omah, now 88 or so. She is from Estonia, she escaped Estonia when the Russian Communists attacked Estonia on a German Submarine at age 14 in 1944. At 18 she married , an American soldier who's of Romanian descent, 1st generation American while he was stationed there. So DIL's dad was born in Germany. On Christmas eve 1944, Berlin, where she was ( age 14 ) living in a tent city, the city was bombed, okay...... they went into bomb shelters overnight. They came out in the morning and had to pick glass shards and splinters out of potatoes at their tent so they could have potatoes for Christmas dinner..... in the pictures in January there is a picture of DGS and Omah ( which means grandmother in Estonian ) ---- at that time his bone structure in his face and head mirrors her perfectly yet he has features of others.

They live well past 100 in that family!

  10. I have a feeling I may be driving tomorrow! Rain , rain...... but fall colors are pretty!.

My kitty, Miss Macy doesn't really like travelling but she's kicked back in the hotel room. She loves the pillows on the bed! Of course!

  11. Sorry about my phone! I still cant figure out how it was dialing you up, Miki!

I am in PA tonight. My son is coming down with something..... his DW and DS are too. He feels bad now I may get sick. I guess I can take my pic, its a bug straight out of Hawaii.

  12. Wonderful news, SueC!

I am in the middle of the trip with my son ,moving from upstate NY where the fall colors on the trees are amazing right now, to Nebraska, about central midwest, to live near good friends finally. I look forward to it!

My son is a pretty cool guy. He is coming down with a bug. I may be driving tomorrow at the rate of how he is being knocked for a loop right now.

MY DGS is doing great , now 15 months.

My DIL is due again in March, a baby girl.

  13. Yep, Windmorn, it will be an adventure but at least they just wrapped and taped the heck out of my old chest of drawers with lots of small stuff in it for camping supplies . Besides it had my photos in it.... never did get them sorted out! At least I know that and most of my backpack gear is in bedroom boxes so I wrote on those boxes and some of the kitchen boxes so that should help me zero in on things but my book boxes, well they are mostly one size except for big books..... Gosh knows which box my wagon is in! I will need it and at least its flat there!

Lake Placid got snow on the pumpkin last night but its about 37F this morning so its good to go on the roads in the low elevations after winter storm is passing through, which is good, since DS just came out of TX/ Hawaii so it's been a while driving east coast weather.
