You're ambitious and doing good!  Keep it up girlfriend!:hapydancsmil:

A good place to look for jars is estate sales or garage sales.  I've gotten tons that way.

I'm hoping to have a good amount of canned goods for the winter! We can't provide all our food, but hoping to do some!

Today it was 14 pints of peach salsa. Can't wait to have some on a cold winter night! :)

  2. I keep thinking: well, I'm not into sports anyway....or bars. I can do without restaurants although it's nice to go out once in a while. But that's the thing....weather I care about them or not, I should be able to go if I want to. It's pretty messed up that people are saying this is okay. I follow some accounts on twitter (I don't participate, really, just read, and I follow all kinds to see what the average person is thinking) where they are saying things that certainly sound like it's 1930's Germany.

  3. Today was 12 half pints of banana peppers and 3 half pints of jalapenos.

Hubby went to our closest hardware store and found jars!! So he's buying me a few more jars. He supports my canning habit and that's one of the many reasons that I love him. :canning::bouquet:

  4. Ok, there's a consensus!! Thank you ladies!! Seems like a waste to not can as many as possible at at time!

Another question....is it okay to water-bath different items that require similar timing, even if I have to extend one of them for a little longer?

That is...awesome sauce.  Thanks for sharing your pictures! Lucky you to have such great helpers.

I did have to smile when I saw all of those pots of tomato sauce on the stove. Girlfriend is serious!  :cook:

I'm learning!! Hubby says better now than when we depend on it!!

  6. A few years ago, my hubby got me an American (I think it's what it's called) double canner. I can fit 14 quarts in it, and love it! It sure cuts down on time. Well, I'll be canning some peaches this week, but those are not pressure canned. Can I double or even triple half pints in my water bath canner? Is that a bad idea? I'm getting a bunch of peaches this week, so will be making a bunch of stuff....it's also scheduled to be one of the hottest weeks! Want to limit how long I'm canning for as much as possible.

    Thanks!! :)

  7. I did it!! I took a recipe off of pinterest and kinda made it the way I cook....eyeballing it! :D It turned out REALLY good! Since the tomato sauce was already down to the consistency I wanted it, it really was just a matter of adding a couple more ingredients. Ok, a few. But it turned out great! Thanks for the encouragement @Dee!! :bighug2:

  8. Went to meet the Church today, in the building we call church. Pastor preached!! He's more of a teacher, but today he preached on how the state of our country is in BECAUSE of how we (as a nation) have fallen away from the Lord. It will get worse, he said. He didn't tickle my ears once. We are thankful for him!

Then hubby decided we should go out for lunch, so we decided to let the birthday boy (this week) decide where to go. Freddie's it was. Came home, took a nap....kinda (toddler!).Then made spaghetti sauce with the sauce from yesterday.... 14 quarts are in the canner, so I'm pretty happy!! Also, made ketchup for the first time. It turned out pretty good! I can taste all the flavors....it's yummy!

A good day, even though I'm tired. Tired is good!

Joyfield, I will be praying for your sister and family that this virus will not effect them. It has not to my knowledge been put on TV as of yet. To much about Afghanistan right now. I think we will hear about it this winter if it does happen. This is going to be used as another scare tack to force the vaccine on us.

Thank you so much for praying....they have a small orphanage there. The last thing they need is for this to go through their campus!!  May God help us all.

  10. So....we got bees this year! We got two swarms, but one of them absconded :(. The other one is doing very well! We have three boxes (hives?) and they have about 2.5 of them full. I'm pretty excited, hubby says that it means we should be able to get some honey pretty soon!! If you know anything about bees (we're new at this), feel free to jump in with any thoughts or tips. Thank you! :)

I think we have been lied to a lot about this virus.  And to make things worse, I have already heard they are planning another form of the corvid virus.  Watch for Marburg virus out of W. Africa and Lambda virus out of Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Ecuador.  Both are resistant to the vaccine.  This virus will not end till every single person in the world gets this vaccine. I am really starting to question hard about why they are forcing this on us. Something stinks about this whole thing.

Emphasis added by me..... My sister and family live in W Africa as missionaries. :(

I have a Squeezo, similar to what you have, and it's an marvelous thing.  It makes things so much easier.  I'm so glad you got one....congrats!!! :cele:

Thank you, Dee! It really was a lot easier!  Less mess, too, and a whole lot less time. I want to do it again! :hapydancsmil:
