  1. We were in the low 50*'s today.  Frost advisory tonight.  So still can't plant garden yet. This weather is crazy this year.

Mt. Rider, I hope they can get you straight and this doctor works out for you. You have really had a lot of health issues going on. Time to get things figured out. And if there is a pill for being so tired, I could use that right now.  I can see you now chasing a wheelchair through the parking lot.

  2. Annarchy, praying all goes well for your DH. He must be on blood thinners for his skin to bruise that easy. That stuff is bad. My DH was black and blue after working in the yard from that medicine.

Sounds like you have a good start on your garden.  Still to cold here yet to plant some things but hoping Thursday the weather will stay warm like they are saying. We will see. I'm ready to start planting.

Becca Anne I really like that room. And radiator heat is good heat. I grew up with those. I remember my mother had a key that she would use to open a valve to let air out at the beginning of winter when the heat was turned on. Don't know if yours has that or not. It was a natural gas furnace.

  3. Did some light cleaning this morning. Mostly kitchen from GS's middle of night eating and messing up kitchen like always. He does not clean up behind himself often.

Friday morning I go for the MRI for the pituitary tumor.  Be glad when that is over. Found a new dentist that takes my insurance so going to make apt. for that also very soon.

I ordered some plastic cases to put matches and things in so I can keep them all together. I have to many things scattered all over the place and I really need to get that all organized and in one area of house. As soon as GS moves out I can really get this house organized again. His bedroom was my office and sewing room and I will be turning that back into my office and sewing room again. I am either going to give him the bedroom suite or give it to my daughter. He has a bedroom suit at his mother's house but I don't think it has much of a dresser to it. But he just throws his clothes on floor, clean or dirty it doesn't matter and the dresser drawers just hang open all the time. Boys! go figure. Once out I need to get that bedroom painted. But don't know what color I want to paint it. It is the brightest of the bedrooms as that is the side the sun comes up on in the mornings. But I have a few months to think about it.

I decided I don't need a guest bedroom any longer.  These kids come to visit and don't leave. They can stay in a hotel down the road. GD in Washington state said her DH is now out of the Navy. He is not looking for a job right now as he is getting things finished up at the veterans office. He is 30 years old and got out on disability. Don't ask, I haven't figured out what his issues are yet Other than he didn't like what he went in for. Naval Hospital. He's not doctor material and he didn't like it. But she is working but they have 2 car payments, a house payment, utilities and insurances. So hope they make it there as they will be moving to NC if they don't. Not moving here. GD in SC is now getting ready to move back in with DD again. Her DH is leaving for boot camp next month. So she is going to live with her mom. I have a feeling mom is about to get her paybacks for kicking them all out so soon. I am out of it. No one moves in with me again. Twice was enough and all I do is clean up behind them. No time for me anymore. So DD and SIL will have no choice but to deal with them. I am the Grandmother and should not be having to go through this because DD wants her time for her. Shoe is about to hit the other foot. DD isn't going to like it.

  4. I do the same thing for BJ's and Sam's club. I just take it out to the car and bag it there but a lot of it is bulk items and doesn't need a bag. So just the smaller items are bagged. Saves me time just doing it at the car than in the store.  I also keep a box in the trunk to put groceries and other things in. Just makes it easier for me.  It will soon be time to put my small cooler back in the trunk for the summer. Coming home from some places I go to buy meat, I like to keep a cooler with ice packs in it to keep the meat cold till I get home.  mainly for Greens market in Newport News. That's a good haul when I go there.

  5. Jeepers a lot of places here are charging for bags now.  I keep bags on the front seat of my car and put my purse with them so I will remember to take them in with me.  I know Aldis and Lidl's both charge for bags.

I have been watching Bible prophecy on TV most of the day. Very interesting Bible teaching.

  6. Happy Birthday Becca Anne.

Mt. Rider, get better soon and hope your ride is a great one. I know it helps you a lot.  And I hope the electrical issue is a simple fix.

Ambergris, I didn't see where you were having issues with a tooth but glad it is now all fixed and you are doing better.

My energy is drained today. Don't know why other than I have congestion coming back again. Haven't gotten over the coughing from the first time yet. This isn't like me to just keep getting sick. Been a few years and I don't need to be sick now. I have to much to get done.

Grandson is still in bed. Guess he can't break being up working all night and sleeping all day. I really hope he finds a day job and very soon. He has put in applications everywhere.

  7. They want to put them all up and down the East Coast. We are fighting it. For one it will kill off the fish and birds that fly into them. I don't know how the Navy and Coast Guard feels about that but I do know at one time the Navy in both VA and NC was fighting it. There was something I was watching on TV about a magnetic something or other that would also be a danger. There is nothing green about these.

  8. The chicks are so cute. I love them.  Now I want chickens. I've been wanting them but need to figure out everything I need to do for them. But we can only have 4 chickens here. But I will take that.

  9. Becca Anne, that is what I want to do with my DH's fishing things. I have the box and have had it a good 3 years but one thing after the other got in the way and I still need to get that done.

Can't wait to see what you come up with for your shadow box.

  10. Mt. Rider, GS does do the tilling for me. He did it last year and I will have him do it again. It's been raining off and on here so no yard work today. So working  around in house today. I have most of the windows open and it feels good to have the fresh air blowing into the house. As soon as I have garden fully planted, I will be washing all the windows and curtains in house. By then all the pollen should have stopped. I hate that stuff. Turns everything green. My car was really bad a couple of weeks ago. From a grey car to a green car overnight.  I still have the other shed to clean out but won't be as bad as the garden shed. But I don't even remember what all is in that one. But will soon find out, weather permitting. I know there are clothes, old drapes, books, still some  canning supplies, christmas decorations and from there I forget what is in there. But will get it all sorted out.  Then I move to the attic. That will be fun. I need to inventory my paper supplies up there. Still a lot of stuff both in shed, attic, and house to sort through and down size it all.

  11. euphrasyne,  I have a neighbor that swears she has 2 black thumbs. She can't even grown flowers without killing them. So I plant enough for the both of us. Though I gave her some mint and planted it for her in a pot and she still has that. I went over and separated it into a second pot and so far it comes back every spring. So that is her learning curve. keep that going and then we will try something else down the line to see how she does.

  12. When DH planted butter beans, it was 5 rows of 150 ft. each row. I know we got a lot of beans but can't remember the exact amount in pounds. I do remember we filled about 6 or 7 five gal. buckets before being shelled. Took us most of the day to shell butter beans. We did the same thing with green beans also. Yes, DH went crazy when he planted a garden. My canning days back then never ended. We got 2 pickings off each plant before we had to pull them up. The second picking was a lot but not as much as the first picking.

  13. MidnightMom, GS will be moving on on or before July 1st. That is his last day here. Job or no job.

I am glad you found out about Peanut. Hopefully the liver counts will come down.

Jeepers, I hope you can find a better place to take that test. That map looks bad. I wouldn't even want to drive in that.

Went out to garden shed and emptied it out for the most part. I have a lot of mess on street and now have all garden stuff in one huge box all together now.  A friend and his brother was suppose to come by this afternoon to take all the electrical stuff and gas pipe fittings and things since that is what they do for a living. I can't use it and no need to keep it if I don't know what half of it is. DH worked for the gas co. and he had a zillion things dealing with gas and electric. Though mostly gas pipe fittings and things. So right now all of that is sitting in middle of shed waiting for them to come get it. GS did come out and help me go through a lot of stuff and then we got all the tools and things put away in its proper place. One the pipe fittings and stuff are out of shed, I will go  back and do a little reorganizing that I can't do with that stuff in the middle of floor. Worked on that shed all day long. I am tired, sore and over did it. But it's done for the most part. Now we are suppose to have rain and colder weather again. But at least I got a lot of it done before the rain hits later.

Guess tomorrow I will be working in the house again. But needed to be outside on these nice days. Still need to deal with the rest of the flower beds but that won't be to bad. Will just have to play by the weather.  I wanted to get the big garden area tilled today but didn't make it that far. But the area is ready to till up now.

May be hitting the bed a bit early tonight. Good hot shower and bed. I am really beat.

  14. Ambergris, You reminded me I need to make my dental apt. I am changing dentist and need to go through the list of eye doctors in my eye care facility. The one I have retired. So getting close to time to get that set up with a new doctor in the practice.

Going outside shortly to work on cleaning out the shed. Just hope I don't get tired to fast. The garden shed is a hot mess right now. Everything has been thrown in it. Then later hoping to at least start working on another flower bed. GS said he will help me today but he is still in bed.  He's not a morning person.
