  1. Yep, My husband had an aunt who lived a very frugel lifestyle. She was 86 when she got dementia. When we put her in a nursing home, we found out that she had planned it so she could be well taken care of. It was nice to be able to have her live well at the end of her life. She was a sharp cookie.

  2. As a "receipient" of a dog bite------ it does NOT get better. Once they bite, they will usually be a repeat offender. My neighbors dog went after me, knocked me to the ground and bit me badly. I had been around that dog for 11 years without a problem. After biting 3 different people, she had it put down. Please consider having a talk with your mother.

Dog bites are a hard thing to overcome mentally and physically.

  3. The problems are mounting for Obama Care. It is forcing some people off of private pay quality healthcare plans, into low cost medicaid type plans. High deductables and less covered care.

I am one of those. I am also losing my Dr. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. I will go onto the exchanges Oct. 1st and see what I can find. When I do---I will let you all know what I find. Cheryl

  4. Well, I recieved my "letter" from my health care insurance carrier. I have been with them since the 80s. They have informed me that my plan has been ended and a "new" plan is offered to me. It is double what I was paying. It is now completely "unaffordable" to me. I was already paying a high price. I will now have to go on the exchange and get someone elses plan.

So, I looked, and they are all a very basic low plans and very high high deductables (5,000 - 6350). I also lose my dr. that I trust dearly. I am totally po'd about this.

Has anyone else gotton a letter from their carrier ?

  5. My mom is never "happy" about my dad's garage sale items he brings home-------- until he brought home two very large blue totes full of brand new skeins of yarn last week !

She was sooooo excited ! She crochets afgans for the nursing homes in her area. --I love my mom :)

  6. Dogmom-----She was a very lucky dog to have all of you. I am absolutely positive that she gave you all of the love she had. She also trusted you to know when her time was over. Please feel sad----but also feel glad that she was yours to love. - cheryl

  7. I have a little sewing kit in my car that I put in an altoids can. I also have a little set of tic tac "spice" containers. I fill them with a small funnel. Then you can just shake out what you want. I label them and they all fit into a small tin. I take them with me when I travel, or go to my beach place. Then I always have my favorite stuff.

  8. I get the same thing. It is usually the first couple of times that I get some sun in the spring. I take a cool shower and then put some medicated powder on it. It is usually gone by the next day. The powder I use is a Thai product that you can get in an asian market. I call it "cool powder". You could probably use any other medicated powder as well.

  9. For my 60th birthday----I bought myself a punching bag and some white leather boxing gloves ! My DH is putting it up in the next few days. We shall see. I will report in after I have a few days under my belt

I spent all last week in San Diego with my daughter. We did a 6.9 mile beach bike cruise, which I lived thru. Legs were fine---but the bum hurt like heck.
