I have been sealing jars for years with mine. I originally had the canisters. The jars stay sealed longer and keep things fresher. My seals on some jars are 4 years old. I love this thing !

At my beach cabin, we have filled small gaps and holes with steel wool. It works great. They will not chew thru it and it's easy to stuff into a small area.

Finally getting some good weather here on the coast of Wa. We did not have a spring, so I lost alot of veg plants. Given what others are having to deal with in regard to weather---I will never complain again about ours. I will resolve myself to being quiet. Take care ladies---I sure enjoy you all !

I wish I would have known about the raspberry tea----I went thru early menopause at 31. Good thing I had my kids before I was 25. In our family, it was hereditary.

I have a small upright freezer. It took up two and a quarter shelves. It was all wrapped and frozen. It usually lasts us about 1 yr. Than we get another quarter. Hope this helps.

Way up here on the Coast of Washington, I have rubarb and lettuce for eating. Everything else is planted and will be awhile before I can harvest. Our weather has been fab for a week now. Hope it continues !

We bought plastic garbage cans and drilled holes in the top, then turned the lids upside down on the top. We then wired the lids down to secure them. When I need water for my garden, I un-wire one side and dip my garden water can into it. Here in the NW, it rains alot so we hardley ever have them run dry.
We had a major storm 4-5 years back and had no water for 4 days. Those plastic garbage can rain barrels came in real handy for water needed to flush the toilet ! The nice part is---they are alot cheaper than the "fancy" rain barrels.

Wow ! -- Job well done ! You should feel really good about what you have accomplished for them (and you). I have been through a similar situation, and it is NOT easy. Do not forget to take care of yourself and your goals. It sounds like you are on your way !
kind regards , Cheryl

Horsehollow --- trust me--you have come to the right place ! I learned all I could from these good people ! They are very responsible for guiding me in the right direction. I lurked on MS for years and just recently joined. You and I are the same age, and share the same feelings about this country. I will not rest until I am self-sufficient and depend on myself to rise to any occasion. Welcome aboard !
