4 Sloppy Joe/BBQ Recipes ( 1's A Crockpot Recipe )

Texas Style Sloppy Joes

 

1 lb. ground beef

1-( 1 1/3 ounce ) pkg. McCormick Sloppy Joe Seasoning Mix

1-( 8 ounce ) can tomato sauce

1/4 cup ketchup

1-( 4 1/2 ounce ) can Old El Paso Chopped Green Chilies

( 8 ounces ) Bush's Best Pinto Beans ( rinsed & drained )

Tabasco Sauce ( optional )

shredded cheddar cheese

8 hamburger buns

 

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef; drain off fat.

Add the Sloppy Joes Seasoning Mix, tomato sauce, ketchup and chopped green chiles.

Stir in the pinto beans.

Cover and simmer about 10 minutes.

Serve over hamburger buns.

Shake on a few dashes of Tabasco Sauce, and top with some shredded cheddar cheese.

Serves 8.

Cindi's Barbecues

 

3 lbs. ground chuck

2-( 14 oz. ) bottles catsup

2 small onions, chopped fine

1/2 red bell pepper, chopped fine

1/2 green bell pepper, chopped fine

2 celery stalks, thinly sliced

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

2 tablespoons dry mustard

3 tablespoons 5% white vinegar

 

In a Dutch Oven, brown ground chuck 3/4's of the way.

Add the chopped onions, red and green peppers, and celery.

Finish browning the beef, and cooking the vegetables; drain.

Return the beef mixture to the pan.

Add the remaining ingredients.

Cook until heated through.

Makes about 20 servings.

Sloppy Joes

 

2 lbs. ground beef

1 stalk celery, thinly sliced

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

1/2 cup finely chopped green bell peppers

1-( 12 oz. ) bottle chili sauce

1 1/2 cups catsup

10 hamburger buns, split and toasted

 

In a skillet. brown the ground beef with the vegetables,

until vegetables are crisp-tender; drain off fat.

Add chili sauce, catsup, 1/4 teaspoon salt and a dash of pepper.

Simmer ( covered ) 20 minutes; stir occasionally.

Serves 10.

Hot & Spicy Sloppy Joes

 

1 1/2 lbs. ground beef

1 cup chopped onions

1 clove garlic, minced

( I used jarred minced garlic, about 1 teaspoon )

1-( 6 ounce ) can hot-style tomato juice

- I use one ( 5.5 ounce ) can Spicy Hot V8 Vegetable Juice

1/2 cup catsup ( I added 3/4 cup of catsup )

1/2 cup water

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons chopped canned jalapeno peppers

1 tablespoon prepared mustard

2 teaspoons chili powder

1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce

8 hamburger buns

shredded cheddar cheese ( I used Mexican Shredded Cheddar Cheese )

 

In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion and garlic,

till meat is brown and onion is tender.

Drain off fat.

Meanwhile, in a 3 1/2 or 4-quart crockpot,

combine the tomato juice, catsup, water, brown sugar,

jalapeno peppers, mustard, chili powder, and Worcestershire

Sauce.

Stir in meat mixture.

Cover; cook on low heat setting for 10-12 hours.

Toast buns; spoon meat mixture over buns & sprinkle with cheese.

 

Note: To this recipe, I also added 2 tablespoons of

McCormick's 1 Step Beef Seasoning Tex-Mex Chili Spice.
