UKGuy Posted October 6, 2005 Share Posted October 6, 2005 Wedding Dumplings ( recipe by DomesticGoddess ) 16 slices bread, torn into small pieces 4-5 large eggs, starting out with 4 (if too dry, add one more) 1/2-3/4 cup milk (starting out with 1/2 cup, if too dry, add 1/4 c. more) several large dashes of salt several large dashes of nutmeg vegetable oil ( for deep frying ) In a large bowl, beat eggs. Add milk, salt and nutmeg; stir thoroughly. Add the torn bread; mix thoroughly. Shape bread mixture into 6-7 medium sized balls. Deep fry in hot vegetable oil at 375 degrees; until golden brown. Place on paper toweling. To cook the dumplings: Place in a large pot of boiling water; cook for 20 minutes. Remove and serve with a gravy of your choice. To freeze the dumplings: After they've been deep-fried; place on paper towels. Cool to room temperature. Freeze in ( freezer-typed ) ziploc bags; up to several months. Thaw completely, before cooking in boiling water. Makes 6-7 servings. Link to comment
