What natural herbs, roots, berries etc. you think a person should have on hand. Just a plain and simple list..

For example

Elderberries (dried or fresh) - Tincture and Syrup

That way I can make a list of things that need to be ordered... Then once I get all that I will look for recipes! Thanks!

In this case what you would need in really based on present and potential Medical needs.

This should help you figure that out while giving you the info that you are looking for.

Herbal and Botanical Medicine

Chapter 8 (about page 65)

Wild and cultivated Herbs

Names, harvesting and preparation.

Chapter 9 is alternative therapies.

This is a great download to save

this is why i keep these for us. and what i use them for.

what i have done and do is keep a recipe box with what my family has the most trouble with and then look up what will work for us and keep a list of it and recipies in it my DH has told me that is what she wants when i die. maybe i will make her one up before that.

not all herbs work the same for DH as they will for me.or the other way around.

Feverfew is an anti-inflammatory. Used for migraines, rhumatoid arthritis, fibromyaliga (FMS), allergies to name a few.

Yarrow instantly stops bleeding. Does not allow clotting and is best used in places like the nose for nose bleeds (fold leaf in half and stick up nose), used for internal bleeding where is originally gets its name and cuts. Not good on scrapes because it won't allow it to scab (and ya want a scrape to scab)

Used in tea to reduce fevers as it has asprin like qualities.

There is more but nuff for now.. time for you to do your own homework.

One of my favorites is slippery elm.

Slippery elm is used for soothing toothaches, healing scrapes, dispelling constipation, remedy to treat gunshot wounds, a nutritious broth, and has the approval of the Food and Drug Administration as a nonprescription demulcent (soothing agent) for coating and soothing irritated or inflamed mucous membranes.
